  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are most of the cuts to 'Learing Centers"? Might be justified.

Might be?

Can't we have an investigation first and then a punishment second?
Are Learning Centers in Texas and Florida immune to fraud?

That would be nice but not the way politics works these days.

I was speaking of "Learing Centers' such as the now famous one in Minnesota. As opposed to Learning Centers. But yes, I suspect there is even fraud in Texas and Florida.

Trump justified the action in comments posted on his social media platform Truth Social, where he accused Newsom of widespread fraud. The governor’s office dismissed the accusation as “deranged.”

Newsom himself said he welcomes federal fraud investigations in the state, adding in an interview on MS NOW that aired Monday night: “Bring it on. ... If he has some unique insight and information, I look forward to partnering with him. I can’t stand fraud.”

[But freezing all funding without any evidence of any fraud is obviously going to hurt people who rely on these government services.]

California officials said they have received no formal notice and argued the president is using unsubstantiated claims to justify a move that could jeopardize child care and social services for low-income families.

“The president tosses these social media missives in the same way Mardi Gras revelers throw beads on Bourbon Street — with zero regard for accuracy or precision,” [CA Finance dude] Palmer said.

Right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson posted on X that his team will be traveling to California next week to show “how criminal California fraud is robbing our nation blind.”

The California state auditor added the Department of Social Services to its high-risk list because of persistent errors in calculating CalFresh benefits, which provides food assistance to those in need — a measure of payment accuracy rather than criminal activity

A lot of legacy media is corrupt and therefore a less reliable source.
Yes, are those who knowingly advance news they know false. They got sued by Smartmatic, Dominion, and several others.
Here's the thing. We as a nation can't set policy, defund orgs, or fire national security experts based on fake reporting by influencers.
