  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm sure you believe that - I personally do not.

Those who filed for asylum (like my parents), are not illegally here - ICE is removing illegals.
"illegals" who have filed for asylum. Some have even been pulled out of their hearings.

You cannot be an illegal alien and an asylum seeker because you have to be in the system to be considered for asylum - that means you applied at the border of through an embassy, not paid a coyote thousands of dollars to come in without following the law.

The law allowed those who entered undocumented to file for asylum. You may not like that law, and you may not like it that too many asylum seekers were allowed to file for asylum under those conditions, but they were following the law.

And Portuguese and Arabic and none of the citizens.
Last numbers I saw, over 100 US citizens have been "detained" by ICE for hours, days, or weeks without warrant or criminal charges.

Detained..... hmmm... I've been detained - gasp - and I am not white - the police asked me some questions - chacked my id and then guess what - I was no longer detained.

Oh, the horrors!

It's certainly not the kind of thing an American should have to stand for. It's not legal, either.

Then change the laws which make it legal to do so.

is there a rules someplace where a time frame is enacted?
If it is like the events I was describing it did. Are you implying you weren't detained for hours until you could prove you were allowed to be here?

Only in your world - only in your world.

If it takes you hours to prove you are legally in the United States - you're doing something wrong -

Green cards fit in your wallet - State ID's fit in your wallet - a Passport fits in your pocket.

As for long term detention - how is seven months in a camp before being allowed legal entry to the US - both my parents did that.

They never complained, because the privilege of living in the US was a greater value than a temporary detainment.

It is completely legal and this American supports it and this Americans family stood for it for seven months before stepping foot on US soil.

I'm not the one with an issue to current law.
You seem to be, though it may not be current law any more de facto or de jure. In any case, illegal aliens who claim asylum are still under charge for illegal entry and are technically here on parole, so you can incarcerate them any time you want.

Not my world, just the one you choose to ignore:

Until last summer (when I got a "realID" I had none of those documents on my person at any time. I don't have a green card. (I don't carry my birth certificate, either.) My state ID wasn't "real" so it offered no proof of citizenship. The only time I've ever carried a passport on my person in the US was to or from the airport on an international flight.
As for long term detention - how is seven months in a camp before being allowed legal entry to the US - both my parents did that.

They never complained, because the privilege of living in the US was a greater value than a temporary detainment.
They were snatched off the streets of the US and held for 7 months? I thought your story was about their pre-entry detention?

Not my world, just the one you choose to ignore:
uh, the one that offers no verifiable proof beyond their word that they did something.
The honest reader will note the research was 100% in house going through media reports - yeah, that is scientific.

That statement comes from not comprehending my worlds..

You quoted them - just didn't read them

Who said anything about "scientific"? This is reporting.
Tell us about the last time you were detained....
Why would I be detained? I was just pointing out that I didn't/don't carry these "quick out" documents that would prevent detention. Other than the not-necessarily proof of citizenship "RealID" most Americans don't carry them either.

That statement comes from not comprehending my worlds..

I understood them perfectly fine. Your family were detained for 7 months *BEFORE* entering the US. They were not, US citizens or even inside the US when they entered detention. Therefore they are not relevant to this discussion.
