  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well you should explore it. But in the meantime, there are also these options.

God bless you in your endeavors. Your priest also may have better options for you.

i asked my pastor for a Catholic Bible Study recommendation via email and he gave me recommendations of Catholic Study Bibles. I don’t need another Bible. I still can’t find what I’m looking for. I might just end up with a Protestant Bible Study.

The one I suggested, Agape Bible Study, is really good. It has studies for almost every book with catechism references and uses a question and answer format. Even better, it's free! Give it a try. Look on the left side under Bible Study. If you have questions concerning the lessons you can email them. Also you can ask here on the forum.

Online the St. Paul Center for Biblical Study is outstanding. As for television there are many Bible study classes on EWTN. Mother Angelica taught Bible classes for decades so many of her shows go deep into the Bible.

The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Old and New Testaments by Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch

Sorry. I don’t want a study Bible, I want a Bible Study. You know, like they do at church but do it at home myself.

Are you familiar with Jeff Cavins Great Adventure Bible Timeline? That might be the most popular bible study in the country. I did it with a few other people back in 2017 out of my friends house, so you could definitely do it on your own. It also includes extra materials which are great for communicating ideas and giving context to things.

If not that, here's what Word on Fire (Bishop Barron's ministry) has to offer:

Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture is another option...

I don't know if this would be considered a study, but A Catholic Introduction to the Bible, the Old Testament is pretty in depth. Way more than an introduction imo.

If you are familiar with Fr. Mike Schmitz and The Bible in a Year podcast, Jeff Cavins set up the reading plan for that.
