deporting people whose ONLY crime is being on this soil at this point is. Now, if they are EITHER otherwise breaking the law in any way even if it is something for which a citizen or even legal resident would do little or no time for think petti shoplifting or even a traffic violation then OK deport them if they are using public resources ( not like schools) but like food stamps, Medicaid systems like that OK deport them, but if their only crime is being here and they are paying taxes and not using public resources then tracking them down and spending money to deport them while losing those taxes really makes no sense. Now, that does not mean I do not support tight border controls going from here on out.

That isn't what US Code1325 says - if we do not like the code - then let's change it - not ignore it. It's a slippery slope - when the populace determines what laws are followed and which ones are not - it negates the rule of law.

The IRS doesn't care about your legal status or how you make your money, so long as they get their cut.

If they're working for a company with a payroll system, the company still has to deduct payroll taxes. And, obviously, they pay sales taxes.

Thanks for your opinion - but they DO NOT pay into the system. That my friend, is the weakest excuse I have heard. They are illegal aliens, they do not pay into the federal tax system.

One thing is that I have an older friend that I trust that used to work at one of the tax preparetion places several years back who they had illegals come in all the time. When she asked them why they paid taxes from which they could not benefit they said that when Reagan did his amnesty he required that people had a clean record and paid taxes; therefore if Obama, this was right around the time he took office did the same thing they wanted to prove they had pulled their weight. The other one is that my late grandfather hired them to work on his farm and when they complained about taxes being taken out my grandmother explained that she had to under the law. Now, we argue all day long that my family and others should not hire illegals, however, the fact is it is tough to get Americans to work those manual out in the heat jobs and even if it was not the issue in this post was about my claim that they pay taxes not about whether Americans are willing to work those type jobs

Not legally. Generally the labor contractors provide them.

I think that something like a speeding ticket shouldn't result in a deportation for such a person.

You do realize there are other ways to file taxes than through your employer, right? Even if you're a drug dealer working exclusively in cash, you can (and legally have to) still file a tax return. The IRS doesn't care how you get your money or whether you're in the country legally.

As an absolute number, possibly. As a percentage of their income, absolutely not. Sales tax is a poor way to tax the rich because rich people don't actually buy all that much stuff. On average, the top 1% pays about 1% of their income in sales tax. The bottom 20% pays about 7% of their income, and everyone else averages about 5%.

Sales tax isn't a huge revenue source relative to income tax, but it is still a tax, and illegal immigrants pay it. They are, therefore, taxpayers, by definition.

The company gives you blank I-9s and W-4s to fill out.

It's not hard to get the forms.

Now if E-verify were mandatory, they might have more impact.
