  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You don't think this is directly related to the fact Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world?
Of course it does. Maduro nationalized it to rob it blind. Venezuela’s economy was very strong before Chavez and Maduro destroyed it. Before these two dictators was a rich country that offered a plethora of social services to its people. After them the Venezuelan economy is in shambles. The volatility of the Venezuelan bolivar is tremendous with hyperinflation and hardly has any value. People there are suffering.

It does. Maduro destroyed a country and is no different (actually worse) than Noriega back in 1989. Why are you supporting a dictator that has abused civil rights and destroyed the Venezuelan economy to line his pockets?
What an interesting question!

Like what?

Another naive statement. Read US history. I agree with deposing Maduro by any means necessary.
I do not weep for Maduro, but am unwilling to sacrifice the principle that we should not intervene in other counties. That justification of the strong ruling the weak seems antithetical to the world I wish to live in.

Oh stop the virtue signaling, because when it comes to politics there is no Christian.
Sometimes it looks like the purpose of USA Christianity is to reinforce political loyalty.

From the press conference happening now (paraphrasing):

‘Take back the oil fields that they stole from us.’

‘We will be running things until a new government is in place.’

Ugh… here we go again.

yea, Trump, in response to a reporter's question, stated "we are not afraid of boots on the ground."

But any power will always intervene in other countries. It is a fact of life and we’ve been doing it for 200 years. So, again, nothing new. Also the Venezuelans in the US welcome the intrusion.

That we fail to learn from our mistakes does not constitute a reason to ignore our past issues. It most certainly does not justify abandoning all principles in pursuing an outcome. That is the antithesis of the American ideal in my mind.

"Intervene" is a pretty broad word. For sure it includes efforts almost every country does, one way or another. Some are valid. Some obviously cross a line - like Russia driving a huge armored column to Kiev to depose its govt, just for one example.
