  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lake Powell has dropped 36 feet in just the past year, leaving the massive reservoir at only 27% of its capacity and raising concerns about the ability of the Glen Canyon Dam to generate power.

The dramatic water loss has transformed the landscape around Lake Powell. Satellite images from the past 11 years show islands appearing where none existed before, and the Wahweap Marina has been forced to move steadily eastward to stay accessible.

As of Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported Lake Powell's level at 3,540 feet, representing just 27% of the reservoir's total capacity.

The situation becomes critical at 3,490 feet, when Lake Powell loses its ability to generate hydroelectric power.

Its filled by a large river that drains a huge and previously reliable snowpack.

Not that I agree with the project to dam it in the first place.
It's mainly filled by the Colorado River the same as Lake Mead near Las Vegas. Lake Mead's water level got drastically low in the 50s. In the 80s the water level got so high the spillways had to be opened. Nature works in cycles.
