  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a faith based game that details how, like us, individuals interact with each other on a day-to-day basis to either support each other or ultimately neglect each other. But the game advertizes these day-to-day interactions as a battle and even at times encourages the idea that individuals should battle for dominance. Is that really okay? If we take into consideration what Spiritual Warfare is, it seems like our day-to-day interactions are a battle as we step out in faith and go against satan's plans by engaging with each other as God made us to. But can we truly say that God made us to dominate? Maybe it's just wording but I'm always concerned how some people believe satan's lie that they can work for their salvation instead of just believing God. Is it okay for a game to represent these options for living in such an honest way?

I agree sometimes you hear people say stuff like 'oh it's just a video game' or 'oh it's just a card game.' I think that's really not understanding how deep some of this stuff goes spiritually. Like, there's a reason it's the Winged Dragon of Rah & not Yahweh. Ultimately I believe what it does is it's meant to get people addicted. It turns people away from God & the Bible & the real world. Who needs Yahweh & the real world when you have a fun Egyptian god.

My judgement is:
It's fine to do once in a while. But don't let it dominate your life. There's a real world that exists outside card games. What's really your mission here, what does the Bible say.

Also, to more directly answer your question, there's nothing anti-Christian about games where there's winners & losers. Everyone is good at something. You may lose this round, but win the next. & sometimes it's 'the luck of the draw.' God has made everyone unique & given everyone a season.
