  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Political violence on the rise: Left wing attacks outnumber those from the right for first time in decades

Not right wing extremists? Because that's what they look like to me. Am I wrong?

Don't forget the baseball bats and the buffalo first. Two of the most critical weapons in rhe fight to overthrow the government.
No one claimed they were good at it.

Its going up. Thats bad right?
2025 looks like it will end with 7 left-wing attacks and plots, which will keep it on pace with what has been seen during the past decade. The average number of left-wing terrorist incidents went from an average of 2 per year from 2005 to 2015 to 4 per year from 2016 to 2025. While that is a bad thing, we are still not seeing a dramatic increase in left-wing terrorism, and the numbers we see today are nowhere close to what was seen in the 1960s and 70s. What's good is that the numbers from all forms of terrorism have decreased in recent years, despite the increase in left-wing terrorism that began in 2016. Hopefully this is a trend that will continue, but unfortunately it's unlikely, at least in the short term anyway.

This is some "The Right Can't Meme" stuff here.
"Full Time Employment" - Jan 6th was a Wednesday. Why weren't those people at work?
"Obeys laws" - elected a literal convicted felon to be president. That president violates laws everyday of his term. Dozens convicted of seditious conspiracy on Jan 6 only to be pardoned by the convicted felon president. Several went on to commit further crimes.
"Literacy" - seeks to ban books from libraries
"Loves Family and Country" - as long as it conforms to their narrow view of what those things mean.
"Common Sense" - HA! See previous points.

It seems like January 6th is all y’all have. It’s been milked so much there’s nothing left

Does there really need to be more? The right threw the biggest tantrum ever because their guy didn't win, literally tried to force it. That act went against every principle the right claims to stand for. The rule of law. Democracy. Freedom. Back the Blue. Like, literally every one.

Okay, glad you recognize the increase in leftist violence. I would argue that there has been far more than 4 per year. If you are only talking murders then okay. But in 2020 alone leftist violence far exceeded this. And this last couple if years leftist violence increased a lot. We are talking violence not just homicides.

If that's your best example of right wing extremism then it's not much of a problem

I think the rise in violence is different this time round. It seems more mainstream. I think extremism was more on the fringe in the past but now its becoming more acceptable as a means of resistence and stopping opponents.

I think this has been building for some time and gradually both sides have become more partisan and extreme. Like every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Primarily I see this as a spiritual battle now. Politics and personal life have merged and now each side is polarised and everything is a matter of democracy and life and death. People see this as so serious that they are willing to use violence.

In some ways its like tribalism. Different groups and sides warring with each other over ideas and beliefs. People are going back to the savages who would kill each other over their differences.

But I think primarily Christians are called to be Christlike. I think many are reflecting and reproving their faith after Kirks death and all the attacks. There is a limit because of God.

While at the same time there is a rise against God and Christianity from the Left who are more about building a kingdom on earth. The battle lines are being drawn.

Participants in the January 6th attack on the Capitol had ties to over 50 right-wing extremist groups and movements. You couldn't ask for a better example of what right-wing extremism looks like in the United States.

If that's the most they can accomplish then they are not much of a threat
