  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Doesn’t the hammer get hung up on clothes sometimes? the favorite caliber of yours I would like to hear. 40s mine.
but a big bore revolver is so expensive, compared to a Glock.

My carry weapon is a Sig P220 double action only with an hammer that doesn't protrude. I also carry regular P220. Both in .45. I carry a. 40 glock in my glove box and either a sbr Serbian AK in 5.56 or a 7.62 sbr galil as a "truck gun".

My favorite revolver at the moment is a S&W 610 in 10mm that will also shoot .40 S&W with moon clips.

You must have a lot of crime there. Here too but I don’t see it . You are ready. Here’s hoping they don’t come breaking through my doors. They say the only crime in this little community is kids when you leave your doors unlocked. I’d be kind of nervous carrying a gun all the time. Don’t want to kill one of them kids but we have criminals rights here. Kill a criminal for a non capital crime go to jail in a lot of circumstances. A lot of people are getting CCW in my county. My pastors are looking for them to protect the services. With training. It sounds right.

I have only owned 2 Striker Fired pistols, both were High Standard .22s. LOL. While I love them, I have always gravitated to steel hammer fired guns and revolvers. The weight, balance and how they fit has always been most important to me. Not all hammer guns are created equal... While I love de-cockers, I have never been overly impressed with factory triggers on any of the P226s or Beretta 96s I have shot. For IDPA and PPC I am a recreational competitor and mix it up shooting a CZ75 clone, a 1911 and a Ruger GP100; all three favorites! I point them, pull the trigger, and hit the target, for these three it is so natural for me. For bulls eye, my HS is the best I have ever shot. If I could only keep one, I could not choose.

Pros/Cons

1. Hammer pros: Can be let down to keep the chamber open, thus you only have to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] the hammer when needed because the gun is already chambered. A 1911 that carries 8rnds can also hold 9 without having to stress over safeties and thus it's safer for EDCC and these styles of firearms have smaller frames and other lighter calibers...
2. Hammer cons: Also with 1911 style firearms, the guns are better armed this way outside. Thumbing the hammer into the bever and releasing the trigger while slowly letting down "is not safe". Although a mitigation would be to buy a M9 Baretta double action style. Easier to do and a lot safer...

1. Striker pros: Mainly also single action firearm, the slides on these guns are A LOT looser as they need to be. Quicker activation than a hammer.
2. Striker cons: Keeping the gun chambered and ready relies indefinitely on the safety which is never advised as they can slip into battery without awareness or become unreliable over time. On a GX2 the trigger is also a mega light hair trigger, almost like a toy gun trigger on a real firearm, which is also why chamber loading may also not be an appropriate option.

I need to make a correction; HS actually have internal hammers like an AR, so not a true striker fired pistol.
