  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hopefully a go-fund-me makes him whole if he loses.

I support this protest because, as I noted elsewhere, its sad to see Trump vandalizing this memorial to murdered president - for his own vanity.

The cultural center proposal was started by Republican President Eisenhower. Democrat President Johnson named it after Kennedy soon after Kennedy was assassinated. Federal property should be bi-partisan. It is unfortunate the free event for the public was cancelled because of those who think one party should rule. Such intolerance for others is regrettable.

You've made a good argument that a partisan Twitter troll like Richard Grinell shouldn't be running it.

Once near the U.S. border I was walking in a residential neighborhood and a man was running by being chased by a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. Now, many years later, I regret not tackling the man to show support for U.S. law enforcement. In these type of situations your first reaction might not always be the best. Resisting law enforcement is a crime, even if you are unsure of the justice involved. What if the one being chased was a serious criminal? Still, I would hope if the staff is sorry that they could get a pass on their poor decision-making.

If there was a contract and it was broken then the Kennedy Center deserves compensation.
If there was a contract, it will spell out the consequences, if any.

Putting your own name on a memorial to a fallen president isnt "bipartisan". Its entirely one man's vanity.

Honestly, I think most Trump supporters are kind of embarrassed by this one.

Given the now well stated history, the Center itself existed in law during JFK's entire presidency and he managed to not put his own name on it. It was his successor that did so and as the sole national memorial to him.

It depends. The contract was to play at the Kennedy Center, not the Trump Kennedy Center. People should have the right not to play in a building, with a name of a person, that should be in prison.

The Trump-Kennedy Memorial Center would sound better if it were accurate.

I shall use this formulation if the subject comes up again.

Well, he was nearly assassinated in nearly the same way.

If refusing to bake a cake for a same sex wedding is "religious freedom", refusing to play at the Trump-Kennedy Center, should then be what?
Breech of contract.

In order for that analogy to work, it would have to be a situation were the bakery refused to bake the cake after the order was accepted and money changed hands.

As I said, legally it comes down to determining if there was a contract. If you say you are going to bake a cake for a wedding to certain specifications, and then two days before the wedding you decide you will not, are you in breach of contract and did damage to one party occur?

I just heard Eric Trump some hours ago mention about how the hand of God must have been on his father. He said his father saved the family unit, saved religion, and saved our country. I had forgotten the FBI had demanded that all security cameras be turned off at Mar-a-lago, then they tried framing Trump by putting those folders marked classified on the floor and released the fabricated photo-op to the public. Fani Willis bragged about getting Trump when she was running for office. Then there was that judge who used his own crazy valuation for Mar-a-lago that was in contradiction to every legitimate realtor estimate. It's wrong to fabricate evidence and make up laws or numbers, just because a person hates someone is not a reason to send him to prison.
