  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You seemed to be starting a response on ICE training, but then veered off elsewhere for no apparent reason. Have you considered actually sticking to a single thought until you have finished it before starting another?
What's with the ad hominem tactic?

Because there are so many Spanish speakers they have to learn Spanish in addition to de-escalation. In a normal arrest situation a lot more people would typically be arrested for obstruction and there would be additional backup, here the approach appears to get suspects in and out as fast as possible in order to avoid mob confrontations.
Why not just hire people who can already speak Spanish?

After watching so many videos and reading so many articles I have to say this.

ICE has done a terrible job when dealing with the public interfering with their operations. Its almost like that have no idea how to investigate a case or write a report or anything. The amount of shoddy police work is ridiculous. I've watched them let so many people go that should have been arrested. And when they do arrest no charges are filed. Ridiculous police work.

They have also done a terrible job when dealing with people who claim to be citizens. I actually have no beef with rounding up a citizen when the citizen is hanging with or around illegals. But when someone says they are a citizen they should go to the front of the line for investigation into the veracity of their claim. Obviously just cause someone says they are a citizen doesn't mean they are. And evidence needs to be looked at. But there should be a first class check into that. ASAP. Everyone else can wait.

The Justice Dept has done a terrible job in prosecuting citizens when they are interfering. If they can't be competent enough to train the officers what they need then they should be replaced with someone who can. I've watched enough videos wondering why someone isn't being arrested. Its ridiculous.

There may be a total failure of Congress for not passing a law the prohibits such actions. I don't know enough about federal law on this, but there should be something on the books that would prohibit whats being done.

I've watched as someone is being taken into custody by ICE and someone else jumps in to try and stop it. And that pe tree son just gets shoved away. Are you kidding me? That peraon should be taken down immediately and arreared as well and prosecuted for interfering. That's a total ICE failure.

Maybe instead of the guard, the president should have Uniformed FBI going with ICE to arrest and prosecute these people. I at least have a small hope that the FBI could prosecute a case.

Yup. Consequences for choices. You come here illegally and get taken by ICE. Like you said. Consequences of your choices.
So you agree that illegals have consequences? So why did you question whether they had upthread?

I just didn't remember you saying the same thing in such a matter if fact way regarding illegals. It seems like you mostly criticize the consequences they face, and in this case didn't criticize the consequences the agents face. Its an observation.

Agents choose to put themselves into consequential situations for money (and presumably because that’s all they have the skills to). Illegal immigrant leave what must be hellscapes to prefer what America has to offer poor brown people so I wouldn’t call that much of a choice.

They could choose to come legally.

...CBP agents are being used to detain people in American cities. They are trained for border interidiction activies, not round up people in urban areas. They have no such training and it shows. And for ICE agents who have been recently recruited, it's the same story. They all are incentivised by numbers. Verifying a detainees claims is secondary to hitting their target for any given day. The government simply does not have the trained man power to carryout what Steven Miller is demanding. And U.S. citizens and non-citizens who are following the immigration process are paying the price.

This has become such an inane retort from the right.

If that really mattered they wouldn't be rounding them up in court houses while doing what was needed to come here legally. They wouldn't be revoking asylum, a legal status and process, or stopping them from literally taking the very last step of the legal process of taking the oath of citizenship. It has never been about "illegal" immigrants, just immigrants.

That's too hard, you know, the same way that it's too hard for black people to get an ID
They did a study to discover what ids black people were less likely to have than whites and made that the standard.

Conflict over Texas' voter ID law was in the courts for most of last year, and 2018 will probably be no different. The state's restrictive voter ID law, passed in 2011, has been found by courts to have been crafted with discriminatory intent. Now it's up to a three-judge panel to decide, among other things, whether Texas' new law, designed to fix problems with the old law, goes far enough.

Most have are here illegally and then attempting to get legal. They shouldn't have have been here in the first place.

Asylum is a different matter. And with only around 30% of Asylum seekers being actually granted Asylum, we can see how these illegals are trying to game the system.
