  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which two nations?
There are a total of eighteen of them currently - perhaps I could suggest a difference news source.

  • Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (October 9, 2025, statement): "This is a moment of profound relief... President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza has brought hope after unimaginable suffering." Context: Starmer, also at the summit, highlighted the UK's commitment to turning the ceasefire into sustainable peace.
  • Emmanuel Macron, President of France (October 9, 2025, statement): "I commend the efforts of President @realDonaldTrump, as well as the Qatari, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators." Context: Macron linked the deal to broader goals like a two-state solution and increased European training for Palestinian security forces.
  • Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of the Netherlands (October 9, 2025, statement): "I thank President Trump for his leadership in securing this ceasefire and paving the way for humanitarian aid." Context: Schoof stressed the importance of unimpeded aid delivery to Gaza.
  • Christian Stocker, Chancellor of Austria (October 9, 2025, statement): "Grateful to President Trump for driving this agreement— a vital step toward ending the cycle of violence." Context: Stocker focused on the hostage release and potential for long-term de-escalation.
  • Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine (October 13, 2025, statement): "The hostages have been freed, and the war in Gaza is coming to an end. This is truly an extraordinary event... We congratulate Trump over his leadership and determination which have worked." Context: Zelenskyy drew parallels to Ukraine's peace efforts, praising Trump's "peace through strength" approach.
  • Antonio Costa, President of the European Council (September 29, 2025, statement): "Encouraged by Prime Minister Netanyahu's positive response [to Trump's plan]. All parties must seize this moment to give peace a genuine chance." Context: Costa urged implementation of the ceasefire's first phase, including aid and prisoner exchanges.

Egypt Awards Trump Highest State Honour ‘Collar of the Nile’

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will award the Collar of the Nile, Egypt’s highest state honour, to U.S. President Donald Trump for what the Egyptian presidency described as his “significant contributions to promoting peace, resolving conflicts, and his pivotal role in ending the war in Gaza,” the presidency’s spokesperson said today.

Specifically. Choose your best. I’d bet I can show it’s inaccurate.

I'll bet your obvious distain and vitriolic dislike for the President of the United States is so deep - well....

King Charles praises Trump’s role in seeking peace, reaffirms ‘closest defence relationship ever known’ between US and UK

The first day of US President Donald Trump’s second state visit to the UK was packed with pomp and ceremony — from a carriage procession and a Red Arrows flypast to a beautiful state banquet at Windsor Castle.
Trump, the first US president ever invited for a second state visit, called the occasion a “singular privilege” and described it as one of the “highest honours” of his life.

1. We haven't been at war with GB in 200 years. (THough they did try to back the rebels in our civil war.)
2. Wow, chuck 3 looks close to death. That's usually Trump's role in these kinds of photos.

If he really believes this is the closest defense relationship ever known between the two countries, let's see if Britain goes along with us into our next military escapade.

I guess the king missed the briefing where the UK has cut off some intelligence sharing with the US.

Father Morey, the pastor of the parish, stated that he refused Communion because Biden, as a public figure advocating for abortion rights, placed himself "outside of Church teaching." He explained: "Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that." This action aligned with a 2004 policy in the Diocese of Charleston (enacted under then-Bishop Robert J. Baker) guiding priests on such situations, citing Canon 915 of the Code of Canon Law, which bars those "obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin" from receiving the sacrament.

Morey emphasized his duty as a priest to minister faithfully, even in difficult cases, and said he would pray for Biden. The denial drew national attention, with reactions varying: some praised it as upholding Church doctrine on abortion, while others (including Biden's home bishop in Wilmington, Delaware, W. Francis Malooly) criticized politicizing the Eucharist.

This canon is part of Book IV (The Sanctifying Function of the Church), Title III (The Most Holy Eucharist), and it places the obligation on the minister of Holy Communion (priest, deacon, or extraordinary minister) to deny the sacrament in specified cases. It is a sacramental discipline, not a penalty like excommunication.

Key Elements for Application

To apply Canon 915, the situation must meet these criteria (based on canonical commentary and Church documents):
  • Manifest: The grave sin is publicly known or obvious (in the "external forum").
  • Grave sin: Objectively serious matter (e.g., support for intrinsically evil acts like abortion).
  • Obstinately persevering: The person persists after being warned or admonished, without repentance.
The canon protects the Eucharist from sacrilege, prevents scandal to the faithful, and safeguards the soul of the recipient (drawing from 1 Corinthians 11:27–29).
What is the Catholic Church's stance?
  • The Catechism of the Catholic Church (No. 2271) states: Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.”

Respect for Unborn Human Life: The Church's Constant Teaching

Perhaps you are not familiar with the Catholic Church's and the Pope's official stance.
The Pope never denied Biden communion. In the 2024 election, he acknowledged that Trump supported many monstrous intrinsic evils and that people should follow their conscience.

He was better than anyone on the left had to offer.
I was talking about the Religious Right. They had a stage full to pick from back in 2010 was it? Remember that Republican debate?

I never said he did.

The Pope does uphold the Catholic churches stance on Abortion.

God is apolitical. "Render to Caesar..., etc.", and any attempt to argue that God is for any particular candidate or party in a democratic system is merely trying to justify one's own support and manipulate others into doing likewise.

God's politics belong in church. And I don't see electing Trump, would be what God wants. God's just probably in shock. About both sides.

I dont see how electing Biden or Harris would be what God wants. And God isn't shocked at anything.

Because maybe some people believe that there are more important things going on, more important issues for Christians to concern themselves with than trying to regulate the sex lives of the non-Christian citizens of a secular republic.

You mean like flooding the country with immigrants or taking property from some and giving it to others?

You know the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God. Which means obedience to him in ALL things and not just people's pet social programs.

Jesus' idea of making America great again is to start over, taking it back before Europeans got here.
Yes because a bunch of backward savages who made war on each other, tortured, enslaved, raped and murdered each other were way better. Child sacrifice was much better.

No its not. It's painting an accurate picture of who the natives were. Sure the Europeans came and conquered them. Every nation in the history of the world was formed through one people conquering another. Who cares. We aren't going back to 12000 years of recorded history and giving all the lands back to people who had it at the time.

And the Europeans brought civilization of the time, to the Americas. They most certainly did not do all the right things through their history here. No civilization has, anywhere. The natives here absolutely were not doing the right things either. They were backward
, uncivilized savages who fought, made war on each other. They took each other's women. They enslaved each other. They murdered and raped reached other. They took each other's territory. Some made child sacrifices. All of this cannot be denied. It has been the way of all mankind, everywhere. The natives were not special or unique people to humanity living in some sort of utopian world.

And it was the Europeans that came here that ended up creating all the greatest human achievements that have brought us to where we are today. The great advancements in Medicine, technology, science, knowledge and these things are all due to the people who came here. And they still are. Welcome to civilization and welcome to the real world. A planet that has been and will always be governed by force or the threat of force in one form or another. The savage natives were no better than anyone else. They committed atrocities upon each other as has the rest of mankind through out its life here on earth.

Ah, yes--the innate superiority of Western Christian Culture. You expect Somalis to "assimilate" to that nonsense? You can't even get all of your native born fellow citizens to buy it.
