  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"In a court filing late Wednesday, the federal government accepted liability in the Jan. 29 collision between a military helicopter and a commercial jet over the Potomac River, opening the door for the families of those killed to proceed toward a monetary settlement.

In its filing in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the government said the three-person crew of the Army Black Hawk helicopter, whose members were among the 67 who perished in the crash, failed to see and avoid the American Airlines regional jet. It also said air traffic controllers at Reagan National Airport failed to alert the jet of the approaching helicopter, something a Federal Aviation Administration official acknowledged earlier this year."

Who was in charge of the federal government at the time?

Irrelevent, IMO. Allowing the military to fly a route that crosses a commercial airport landing zone is an accident waiting to happen. Who to blame? FAA and the Pentagon across several administrations.

Charlie Kirk says we can't trust black pilots.
You don't think that's just a slight bit of an oversimplification of what his stance on that was?

My understanding of his position was that:
In an environment where a certain amount of hiring is based on trying to fill certain quotas, and that initiative trumps "getting the most qualified person", that represents a lowering of the bar by ending up with a larger percentage of people on-staff who barely met the minimum requirements rather than the person who was he best candidate compared to all other candidates.

"Meets the qualifications" is different than "the best"
