  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does TFE mean?
The Final Experiment, where flat earthers were invited along with some globe earthers to go to Antarctica in Summer and witness if there was a 24hour sun

Prodromos what in Gods name are yu talking about . A broad claim without evidence yu say .
Yes, which apparently you are unable to address.
Prodromos perhaps yu have not heard of Claudus Ptolemy 2nd century BC Greek Astronomer. It was his system the geocentric system that the world embraced and not only western civilisation but Islamic thought embraced it as well. This is just common knowledge.
Ptolemy didn't only teach geocentrism, but he also taught the earth was a globe. You also appear to be arguing that because believers in a false religion accepted geocentrism, that it must therefore be true?
Whilst the first challenges may have begun with Copernicus in the 16th the Ptolemaic system wasn’t toppled until the late 19th and early 20th century. The battle went back and forth a good 300-400 yrs.
Changing your argument again I see.
And what’s with saying I’m full of it.
You included the Orthodox Church in your broad claim, which is completely contrary to the facts. Thus, I know you are making stuff up without research.
You make it personal and not factual.
It is a fact that you were full of it.
Why such vindictiveness from you ? Prodromos i not understand what got into yu to say that. I never say it of yu
Vindictive? I'm simply calling out your falsehood.

What does TFE mean?
Presumably The Flat Earth?

Which is, of course, nonsense. So was very surprised that Apple Sky described the TFE as a load of hog wash. I'm sure she has not changed her views.

I've no idea what the video was about. I don't usually watch a video without their being a summary of its main points.

It (the Flat Earth) contradicts everyday observations, which is why we know that the earth cannot be flat, so must be a globe.

I’m sure you can’t stand on the second floor of your house until is built. But after it is built there is a second story to your house that you can stand on.

Well of course the earth isn't totally flat. There are mountains and canyons after all. But it ain't no globe. An icosahedron maybe, but not a globe. Hopefully the giant aardvark carrying the earth on its back, won't get in itch and cause another major earthquake.

You say I included the Orthodox Church in my claim. That’s right. They believed in the geocentric model as much as anyone else. So Absolutely yes . More so when many of the Church fathers say the same of luminaries be it the Sun or planets moving around the earth. Or did the great schism 1054 when you seperated from Rome did the Orthodox Church suddenly divorce the church fathers from their heritage as well. No they never. In Teresa’s Obolevitch’s paper ( Galileo in the Russian Orthodox context, history, philosophy, theology and science) ithe paper explores how the Russians in Galileo’s era looked upon the heliocentric system . Time and again the writing brings forth the Orthodox belief in a geocentric system and how eventually the heliocentric theory won the day. For you to claim that the Orthodox Church never embraced Ptolemys system is Just Not True . Are we to believe that it was only the Catholic and Protestant church that accepted Ptolemys geocentric model . No .Prodromus I don’t even understand why you would deny that . Yes the.Orthodox church certainly doesn’t believe the geocentric view point today . But we are not talking about today we talking about the past.
IMG_4094.jpeg
You than mention that Ptolemy also believed that the world is a globe . He certainly did . Where did I ever say he didn’t ??? So what’s your point ? You than say ( that I appear to be arguing that because believers in a false religion accepted Geocentrism, that it must true ) where did I say that? Geocentricity was a belief of the church. Believers are supposed to be in church and certainly not in a pagan one. Perhaps yu are mistaken in your thoughts ..
IMG_4094.jpeg
And no I not change my mind again as you claim. And again yu say I’m full it a 2nd time and now you you are claiming to call out my supposed falsehood. What yu say is uncalled for In your accusations.

Well before the 19th century.

You ignore that the Church Fathers profess a range of different interpretations of Genesis, from literal to allegorical. In some areas there is a clear consensus and in others there exists a wide range of views.

Also, it was Rome who seperated from the Orthodox. Cardinal Humbert's Bull of excommunication, which itself was a litany of false accusations, excommunicated Patriarch Michael and all who agreed with him, which turned out to be all 4 Eastern Patriarchates. In contrast, the council of bishops which responded to Cardinal Humbert's Bull of excommunication, only excommunicated Cardinal Humbert, Archbishop Peter of Amalfi and Cardinal Frederick of Lorraine. So Rome, by legitimising the Bull of excommunication, effectively cut themselves off from the Eastern patriarchates and went into schism.

You argued that Islam accepted the geocentric model. Islam is false religion, so how does that help your argument?

Yes, I've watched many a NASA's videos.
OK but don't you count them all as fakes because they are NASA productions, and you think NASA always lies?

I'm glad I wasn't the only one confused by the acronym. Apparently it stands for "The Final Experiment."

Where did I claim that?
That’s what you’ve been accusing me of in your last few posts . I simply said all mainline denominations including the Orthodox Church. They all embraced Ptolemys system which was geocentric even the Muslims.. it was the only viable alternative around at the time
