  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Members of ‘far-left’ group arrested after planning to carry out series of bombings across California, FBI claims

Federal authorities say they thwarted a credible terrorist threat led by a “far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government and anti-capitalist” group that was planning a series of bombings in California on New Year’s Eve.

Four members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front, who were connected to the alleged plot, were arrested over the weekend, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X.

“The subjects self-identified as members of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology,” he wrote.

The group was allegedly planning to target five separate locations across the Los Angeles area with homemade explosive devices in what Attorney General Pam Bondi said would have been “a massive and horrific terror plot.” They were also planning to target Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and vehicles, Bondi said.

The four people were arrested on suspicion of devising a plot that Essayli called “organized, sophisticated and extremely violent.” They were all tied to what officials described as a radical faction of the Turtle Island Liberation Front called Order of the Black Lotus. FBI Assistant Director in Charge Akil Davis called the faction “a violent homegrown anti-government group.”

Officials wouldn’t name the businesses or buildings the group allegedly planned to target, but Essayli said they were various “logistic centers” similar to ones that Amazon might have. He said they were located in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The mission of the Order of the Black Lotus faction wasn’t immediately clear, but a social media page for the Turtle Island Liberation Front describes the group as an anti-capitalist and anti-colonization group, deriving its name from a Native American term used for the Americas.

The criminal complaint says that the group publicly posts “content that advocates for violence against United States officials” and has advocated against peaceful protest, calling on people to “rise up and fight back.”
