  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does the Bible teach about the role of men?

Men love your wives as Christ loves the church. Men should love their wives more than their own flesh. The spiritual leader in a family.

Men should love their wives and wives should respect their husbands.

Considering how many of Satan's resources are applied to attack and subvert men, we can assume how important it is to resist.
How much respect should she give an unbelieving husband?

1Co 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

If you are on the mission field in your own home, you have an opportunity to win him to Christ as he can see in you the selfless love of Christ. Sometimes you can use humor to get a message across. For example, if you were to say with a smile and a wink, "If you trusted in Jesus, you could be as happy and contented as I am".This can even be used with irony if you have had a particularly bad day.

Some Christians are even unaware that we are supposed to be transitioning from the selfishness of the flesh to the selflessness of biblical love (1Cor 13:4-7), much less than actually doing so. If we show in our lives no difference between us and the unsaved, no one would see any reason to trust in Jesus.

If you knew the unbelievers I've known, and if you believed that God, not missionaries, does the converting, why would you think a human can cause conversion of a sinner?

The apostles didn't have 100% success:

Matt. 10:14
And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

1 Corinthians 3:5-7
5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

Romans 9: 19-23
19You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” 20But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” 21Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
22What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,

I won't mention the evil that some non-believing husbands/fathers commit.
