In a stunning fall from grace this week, University of Michigan head football Coach Sherrone Moore was fired, arrested, and charged with three criminal counts, including one felony.
Moore, the storied program’s first Black head football coach, was fired with cause on Wednesday (Dec. 10) for what the university described as “engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
Later that day, police arrested Moore after responding to a report of an assault by a knife-wielding individual who might have been suicidal. In police-dispatch audio, the victim can be reportedly be heard saying the suspect attacked her and had been “stalking her for months.” Moore’s wife, Kelli, can reportedly be heard saying her husband was “suicidal…for losing his job today.”
