  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How many ladies here who attend the N.O. wear a Chapel Veil or Mantilla to Mass? And how common is wearing one in your parish? I’m starting to see more women wearing them…..there used to be just one lady that I saw. Now, I’ve seen maybe three or four. I’m wondering if it’s going to become a trend? I dont wear one nor do any of my friends but I remember as a child wearing one and mine had sparkles (rhinstones?on it. It was beautiful.

Several. Then again, I live in the most conservative diocese in the nation. That's when I attend my parish. A vast majority do NOT.

At the tradional Latin Mass, almost all females (including infant girls and little girls) wear the veil. I've only seen maybe 1-2 at the TLM that don't.

I think wearing a Chapel Veil draws attention to oneself and if I wore one I’d be giving off the impression that I think I’m holier then thou.
I would think it would be less ‘holier than thou’ and more ‘humble before the Lord’ but then I suppose there are perceptions. If I were a woman I might do it if I thought it wouldn’t be seen as pretentious. Maybe at adoration.

That’s fair. That’s your choice.

Hypothetically, if you attended a Latin Mass, would you veil?

(I think ALL valid forms of Mass should be preserved and celebrated. Period.)

If others were veiling at the Latin Mass then I probably would too.
