CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes. After September 11, 2001, Congress gave the president the authorization to identify terrorist groups and use military force against them.

Hundreds of airstrikes in Pakistan over a period of 14 years wasn't relegated to the perpetrators of 9/11. Trump is going to stomp the tar out of Narco, no matter how much cretin people complain about it. Maybe they'll start holding "Free Narco" rallies next.

Here is my concern with supporters of President Trump. I understand that you want to support him in all of this, and you want him to go after narco traffickers. However, my point is: why can’t President Trump use the proper channels? Why does he have to bypass established procedures to accomplish these goals? There’s no point in having checks and balances in our Constitution if, every time there’s an emergency, we ignore legal procedures.

Over the past 14 years, Presidents from both political parties have been able to order airstrikes over Pakistan because Congress granted them this authority to target Islamic terrorists. Congress provided this authorization with specific criteria for designating terrorists, focusing particularly on Islamic extremism. This guidance does not apply to individuals involved in narcotrafficking.
I support President Trump’s efforts to combat drug trafficking. However, I believe that if the United States intends to target vessels in the Caribbean engaged in narcotics transport, the current administration should seek congressional authorization for such actions or request that Congress officially designate narcotics traffickers as terrorists.

Incorrect. The US isn't, Trump is but he is being very selective. Some Cartels are being helped by Trump while others he has targeted. This isn't about Drugs or death to Americans.
He helped MS-13 criminals and he helped the former President of Honduras out of prison. He is playing both ways.
He loves dictators but hates Maduro of Venezuela. Why? He wants their oil.

The Democrats will refuse to cooperate with Trump on most anything and everybody knows it. The 43 day government shutdown removed any doubt that if there's any kind of work around to get past them it should be taken.

I have no hatred for Trump and pray for him regularly. Trump was fairly elected but not overwhelmingly. He received less than half of the popular vote.
Haven't you been reading or listening to the news? They just seized a very large oil tanker from Venezuela.
