CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To me those are better reasons than "stopping" drugs. But yes, it would be an act of goodwill, that is in America's interest. I don't think it will be an all out war, likely far less than the Falklands. Capture Maduro, if he won't leave peacefully and the war part is over? The nation building is another matter. I think we will soon see. I do think Trump should get Congressional approval though. Let him lay the case out and have a vote.

President Trump should take the time and effort to read the 2025 National Drug Threat Assessment (NDTA) issued annually by the US DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION (DEA) that provides drug-related intelligence to local law enforcement, health professionals, educators and law enforcement agencies!
1) Fentanyl has recently emerged as the currently illegal drug of choice with American consumers its a synthetic drug that is much easier to manufacture and transport, as compared to plant-based counterparts - heroin, cocaine, marijuana!
2) There is a genuine consensus fentanyl precursor chemicals come from China and India, then smuggled past the Mexican authorities employing multiple strategies - much of it is pressed into pill form to resemble legitimate medications entering the country!
3) Six drug cartels all centered in Mexico have been identified as operating clandestine labs responsible for combining the precursor chemicals into fentanyl - all have been designated as transnational criminal s and designated as foreign terrorist organizations by the US government!
4) The Sinaloa and the Jalisco New Generation Cartels CJNK) are the primary suppliers of fentanyl directed to the American market with the Northeast Cartel, New Michoacan Family, Gulf Cartel CDG) and United Cartel ( CU) supplying lesser amounts of these illegal drugs to the US consumer!
5) Tren de Arasua
A violent Venezuela founded in 2012/2013 which originated with a gang members in Tocoro Prison and are involved in human trafficking, smuggling Central and South migrants into the US, then extorting them to pay through prostitution and/or engaging in criminal activities - if caught results in their deportation!
6) Members of Tren de Arasua often worked for larger criminal organizations, engaged in assaults, robberies and contract killings - which proved to be an additional burden for law-abiding Venezuelans seeking citizenship!
7) Tren de Arasua also engaged in small scale drug trafficking, transporting drugs to supply local dealers and often.selling drugs at the street level!
8) Tren de Arassa was tolerated by the Mexican Cartels because it positioned itself as to never be in direct competition with the more powerful Mexican drug cartels - they are neither involved in importing precursor chemicals from China/India nor engaged in the manufacture of fentanyl in drug labs!
9)They refrained from exporting a variety of drugs to US to meet the demand and actually performed a necessary functions at the "grassroots"
THE 2025 NATIONAL DRUG ASSESSMENT, PUBLISHED BY A BRANCH OF THE US GOVERNMENT, MAKES NO MENTION OF VENEZUELA AS A SUPPLIER OF ILLEGAL DRUGS , INCLUDING FENTANYL, BEING SMUGGLED INTO THE USA!
IF THE US DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION IN ITS 2025 ASSESSMENT DOESN'T THINK VENEZUELA WARRANTS MENTION AS A NATION RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTRIBUTING TO AMERICAN'S DRUG PROBLEM, WHY ARE THESE BOATS BEING TARGETED BY THE US MILITARY!
THE MEXICAN CARTELS HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF ENGAGING IN VIOLENT "TURF WARS" IN AN EFFORT TO ELIMINATE THE COMPETITION AND INCREASE THEIR SHARE OF THE AMERICAN MARKET FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS"
IF THESE LARGE AND POWERFUL CARTELS WERE INTENT ON ELIMINATING THEIR MEXICAN RIVAL, IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT THEY WOULD TOLERATE A WEAKER CARTEL FROM VENEZUELA ENCROACHING ON THEIR ON THEIR TERRITORY!

It's nice to know Americans can still agree on some things but just too bad this administration isn't really interested in what the American people think or feel about anything they're doing.

I don't agree with everything the administration has done. It's interesting you would say something in light of the past 4 years when the people on the right experienced the exact same thing. I don't know why it would be a big deal to you. I don't recall.you being very sympathetic at that point.

I don't think that's true at all. Americans vary all the time regarding what administrations are doing. They never show interest in what everyone thinks or feels. Biden sure didn't. So don't try and say its just Trump.
And we can agree on some things despite our differences. And this is certainly one of them. No ground war on Venezuala. I honestly don't think there will be one.
