  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Strong's H87 -Abram = "Exalted Father"
Strong's H85 -Abraham = "Father of a Multitude"

It must have felt silly to have advertised such a name with an elderly and barren wife

The Necessities of Revival… Coming to God thirsty

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) – John 7 (also the text to Zac's sermon below)

Key word… Thirsty

First Generation – Thirsty for God. There have been so many communities having terrible times in the Southeast. Like men many weeks in the desert they were very thirsty, and a cup of water would have been worth the universe to them. The people of the first generation came to God this way and turned out incredible people. Being thankful and showing much joy over the least little things. And also showing much goodness to the children they would bring about as family.

Second Generation – Thirsty for the world. This generation will spend time educating themselves and bringing in families with the motive for them to have a better life than they did.

Third Generation – The spoiled bunch… Hard to figure out what brings them lasting satisfaction.

We are living in post third generation times... I have not been active in church for the wonder of it all. How would I teach people these days? What are they thirsty for? Almost like a chapter out of the book of Judges in which a bad generation arose after a good one.

The first picture below is the view outside my back window. The view over that hill is a nice view of Blacksburg. On the hill are three houses

1. House to the left - First generation WW2 type home. Small house, many kids, loving family
2. All other houses - Second generation homes. Much nicer houses. I don't know of any happy marriages
3. All other generations - I don't know of any with nice houses or happy marriages

The second picture below is the actual Virginia Hamner (Walton’s TV show) home. All of the WW2 generation I knew of were of tiny houses. Making one wonder how all that family fit in such a small house. The people’s lives back then were in their work. There was no relaxing time for things like TV. But the ladies would prepare meals fit for kings and the people lived well. They were also of a much humbler character.
