Because despite all his faults, he’s still the President of the United States and the mayor of the biggest city in the country should be working with the president. When the president is a known spiteful, vindictive jerk who’s also a sucker for flattery, it’s not exactly a bad thing to try to get on his good side.
Perhaps. I only know of JD Vance calling him Hitler and he didn’t seem too bothered by the fascist label himself when it was brought up at the meeting with Mamdani so maybe they’re not so far off the mark.
You see the same with how Newsom deals with him. He’s got no problem giving Trump a bit of what he always wants in any interaction with anyone, if it means the president doesn’t take it out on the people of his state.

He already answered that question. He admitted that he was wrong about Trump, as should Mandami. But, of course, Mandami's radical leftwing base would not allow him to admit that without being labeled as a traitor to their cause. My point is that Mandami never actually believed Trump was a fascist. He only said what he needed to appeal to the masses and get elected.
So far Mamdani hasn’t said he was wrong about Trump. JD would be out of a job if he didn’t clarify his opinion on the president. Mamdani was overwhelmingly elected after his comments on Trump.
If Trump was a fascist, Mandami would not have been able to step foot in the White House, much less have a meeting with the President. Mandami knew that, which is why he went to Trump, begging for the federal funding.
