That's your spin, when Zelensky started going after the actions of the United States he received a proper lecture from J.D. Vance. Trump and Vance were trying to save lives, tragically a lot more have been lost because Zelensky was stubborn, but Zelesnky has now Freconsidered and just had a telephone call with J.D. Vance in regard to the proposal. To me lives are more important than the back and forth of negotiations.
Giving Putin what he wants now will not stop him from taking more later ( and more lives). There is no reason to believe this about saving lives. It is about appeasing Putin and feeding Trump’s ego.
