Then I hope it is obvious to you that flights from Sydney to Santiago make absolutely no sense on your flat earth map, being a shorter flight than Sydney to Los Angeles, yet make perfect sense on the globe.

I really don't understand flight paths & have no idea about them, whether it be on a globe or on a F/E.
