CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Some of it looks familiar. This is from last year, but I'm hopeful this year will be similar in Damascus and the new regime continues to do what it can to protect all its demographics in the face of the extremists who are certainly still active.

Believe it or not, some people aren't aware our numbers are Arabic. Sort of like people panicking about di-hydrogen monoxide rusting pipes while being in our bodies.

I'm not all that concerned about "the Islam" factor of Mamdani.
If he was actually devout, then that may be some cause for concern, but given his political stances (both social and economic) he's clearly not a devout adherent to Islam.
In that debate between him, Cuomo, and that "Guardian Angel" wanna-be, he openly admitted to patronizing legal pot dispensaries, and his position on LGBTQ issues are pretty well-known, so clearly he's not that "strict".

It really seems that you don't like the guy and that he's going to be bad new for NY. I think you don't want him to do well. But I Really like that you don't feel that you always have to agree withTrump. That's quite refreshing.

I will say, that was an entertaining meeting...
I especially chuckled at the part where a reporter asked Mamdani "You've said Trump is a fascist, do you still feel that way?"
Mamdani was just starting to give his "political" answer of "well, I've stated before that..."
When Trump grabbed his arm and said "It's okay, just say yes...it's a lot easier to say yes... I don't mind" and they both laughed.
Maybe we're witnessing the beginning of a comedic "Odd Couple" situation
Or perhaps a begrudging "well, we're stuck with each other, might as well try to make the best of it" situation like this
