  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Democrats finally vote to open Government

Not what I asked. I asked if they had the power to. They did. The Democrats on the other hand had no power to pass the bill on their own. Thus, the Republicans owned the shutdown because they could have unilaterally avoided it.

Ok? It's still a different bill then the one the House passed and thus would have required the House to pass again. Which would have been hard to do since Johnson intentionally recessed the house before the budget deadline with no set time to return. So even with this compromise, the shut down would have happened.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that all those democrats are moderate to conservative, represent purple states, and were courting Republican votes.

I mean I agree with you about this, but that's never going to happen.
It almost happened under Hillarycare. Once people understand that their premium payments are
much higher than the increase in taxes to pay for the single-payer universal healthcare bill, they'll
be in favor of it.

Obamacare iis a failure ....
Yep, that's why it was so popular among Americans. People were finally able to get life saving operations and treatment, which they couldn't receive before the ACA. Republicans tried to kill Obamacare, over and over, but voters rebelled and Republicans knew they had to keep it.

besides that the CR extends keeping the government for a short period of time .... they can fight the insurance battle then
And Republicans will answer as they did this time. NO, NO, NO. In the mean time, people will be losing their coverage.
