  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We’ve all, much to our dismay, had to endure a lot of Fr. James Martin recently.

The Jesuit priest is seemingly everywhere, meeting the Pope, meeting with the bigwig politicians, thumbing his nose at the faith and morality, leading quote “pilgrimages” into St. Peter’s, and then rounding it off by confirming an openly homosexual news anchor and his “husband.”

An Anglican, Fr Calvin Robinson, put the absurdity of the situation best:

We’re so used to seeing him around laughing in triumph in our faces that we forget that Martin is *just* a Jesuit priest. He’s the associate editor for the Jesuit magazine America, yes. He’s also an author, was invited to be part of the consultant for the Vatican secretariat of communicationsby Francis, and runs an “LGBTQ ministry.”

He likes to stir the pot while saying he doesn't oppose Church teaching. It blows my mind. He also doesn't allow people to post more than 2 comments on his FB page. Speaking from experience.
