  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Panzer went on: “I will just throw one more provocative comment out here — while in Istanbul on holiday I didn’t mind hearing the adhan five times a day for the few days I was there — I would not want that to be a 365 day event,” Panzer wrote, referring to the Islamic call to prayer. “But alas, this too is just around the corner for NYC.”

Panzer was fired later in the afternoon. A source indicated that the comments, viewed as Islamophobic, were the reason for the firing.

Hmmmm….i have mixed feelings

I don’t think it’s necessarily “bigotry,” because many extremists overreact if Islam is insulted, or their prophet Muhammad is drawn or someone eats bacon. HOWEVER, a vast majority of Muslims are peaceful people. It seems Mr. Giuliani is simply misinformed.

No. Not your every day normal Muslim. Don’t know how devout he is. Most Muslims are peaceful and believe killing one person is like killing the whole world a la Cat Stevens.
