  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That does not seem to be the case, at least when it comes to halal.

If you'll notice, it's something of a contentious subject in their community.

From the videos I've watched on line of backyard Halal slaughtering, those goats and sheep were most certain NOT stunned ahead of time.

...and what sort of "pre-cut stunning" device might a backyard butcher have at their disposal?

“He is, in fact, an itinerant teacher, whose poverty and precariousness are signs of his bond with the Father. They are also conditions for those who wish to follow him on the path of discipleship. In this way, the renunciation of goods, riches and worldly securities becomes a visible sign of entrusting oneself to God and his providence.

“23. It becomes clear, then, that “our faith in Christ, who became poor, and was always close to the poor and the outcast, is the basis of our concern for the integral development of society’s most neglected members.”[15] I often wonder, even though the teaching of Sacred Scripture is so clear about the poor, why many people continue to think that they can safely disregard the poor.”

And? The Church's position is to treat all with compassion. That is not illegal but it is what Jesus called us to do.
Then start showing compassion towards the people who want illegals out.

So go on a mission to south America, and devote your life to feeding the poor over there. Here, we have our own laws, with our own civilization, right here on this land that's ours, and ours alone.

Did God give it to you or did your ancestors take it from the indigenous people here first?

Your the victims. Right?
You have to show us compassion too, or you're not following Christ. But if you want to go a different "way" then that's your way alone.

My ancestors? I don't know them. And in 100 more years, nobody alive can say they ever knew either of us. We won't even be a memory for anyone.

...But right now, in this time, this country belongs to the living citizens.

Immigrants are in more need of compassion than most Americans. If ICE would focus on the criminal element, not many would complain.

If we are to be truly Christ like, we would be compassionate to everyone,, not just the poor... Or the immigrant...

Jesus forgives the sins of all. And he fed all.

(I say this because I think it's a very valuable statement)

Why did he choose to become poor and remind us that he identifies with the least among us?

How are you suffering so that you feel the need for compassion?
