  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Uganda enacts harsh anti-LGBTQ law including death penalty

“The Ugandan president has today legalized state-sponsored homophobia and transphobia,” said Clare Byarugaba, a Ugandan rights activist.
President Joe Biden called the move “a tragic violation” of human rights and said Washington would evaluate the implications of the law “on all aspects of U.S. engagement with Uganda.”
Will he allow the pride parades and events his predecessors did? Will he walk with them?

Disavowed what exactly?
It seems like he took a picture of the guy and that's it.

It's not like they hung out together, identified as very good friends, shared "good times" together, shared "common
interests", sent each other birthday cards with cryptic creepy notes, had a YEARS long relationship that they hid from the public to a degree.

If you are concerned about their relationship, I will assume you have a more indepth knowledge about the nature of that relationship. How well did they know each other? How much did they hangout?

What, exactly, does he need to disavow?

Cause if it's just a picture......naaahhhhh.
My apologies - i thought you would at least read the article - evidently you did not.

Had you, you would have seen it is not 'just a picture'.

NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani gleefully campaigned this week with a notorious, gay-hating Brooklyn imam who is an unindicted co-conspirator in 1993 World Trade Center bombing and who has been linked to other terrorist activity in the United States — including urging “jihad” on the Big Apple.

he campaigned with him -

And Trump had a Nazi-type to dinner so hes a Nazi. I know how this works!
What mass deaths has Nick celebrated, and who has he threatened to kill?
Anyway, I dont trust breezy online characterizations of whoever for gotcha purposes. Half the time they dont hold up under scrutiny.
You can find his exact words on YouTube if you don't trust me.

Uganda, interestingly enough, is harshly anti LGBT because they are an overwhelmingly majority Christian country.

Fortunately the mayor of NYC will have to uphold our secular laws and values we have and cherish in this country.

Islam can't condone homosexuality.
We have a separation of church and state. No need for the mayor’s approval.

He’s also not allowed to eat pork but I doubt we’ll be seeing any proposals to outlaw non-halal food stands in NYC.

It doesn't appear he supports the same position as the Christian leadership in his home country.

VICTORY: Learn NYC Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani’s LGBTQ Platform Following Historic Win

Mayor-elect Mamdani has embraced, rather than avoided, strong proactive stances on LGBTQ rights and particularly transgender rights. He is the only one of the major candidates in the New York City mayoral election who issued a detailed proposal outlining his stance on issues affecting the LGBTQ community. His six-page policy platform states that he:

He's not a member of a church, the relation of church and state is not relevant. Jesus said his Kingdom was not of this world. What is the attitude of Islam to the state? What did Mohammed say?

Again....is this some long deep history?
What mass deaths has Nick celebrated,
He denies the Holocaust. But yeah....that's pretty old hat stuff..."dime a dozen" republican belief I've been told.

and who has he threatened to kill?
He suggested "killing all the globalists" who "control the global media"
On J6 he suggested killing legislators who refused to reverse the outcome.

Maybe that doesn't matter...

Well he's already pretty clearly willing to go against conservative Islam in his support of LGBTQ issues.

Is there a reason you are so desperately trying to paint him as an extremist muslim a la, exactly what this thread is trying to highlight?

It’s a figure of speech but I’m thinking you knew that already.

We have freedom of and from religion in this country.

Is that better?

Don’t know and don’t care. What Mohammed said 15 centuries ago only applies to his followers. The mayor doesn’t get to impose that on the residents of his city.

There seems to be this sentiment that a mayor is some kind of all powerful monarch who rules by edict and everybody just has to go along with what he demands which just speaks to how much Trump’s behavior as president has poisoned people’s view of government and how it’s supposed to work in this country.

I really wish you would become a Trump supporter, because you do so well at supporting people with what looks like zero research.

This one is from AI - Grok to be exact

Yes, Zohran Mamdani did campaign with Imam Siraj Wahhaj during his 2025 New York City mayoral run.

Mamdani’s association with Wahhaj drew significant attention and controversy. Here's a breakdown of what happened:

Campaign Collaboration Highlights

  • Public Appearance: Mamdani met and posed for a photo with Imam Siraj Wahhaj at Masjid At-Taqwa in Brooklyn, calling him “one of the nation’s foremost Muslim leaders” and a “pillar of the Bed-Stuy community”.
  • Support Network: Wahhaj was part of a broader coalition of Muslim and socialist groups that backed Mamdani’s campaign. Other prominent figures like Linda Sarsour also supported him.

Interesting take. I agree that that seems to be a prerequisite for becoming a Trump supporter, but I'd be a bit concerned about getting a warning for leading with that.

I'd fit the bill I grant you that.
To be fair, I'm not making any CLAIM about their relationship so I don't NEED to do any research. YOU are the one who should be doing the research (which makes this statement absolutely drip with irony)

Ok.

Your post literaly supported my "Ok, so he went to his mosque and took a picture with him".
They have no "deep history". They have no "Deep friendship". They don't have video of them leering at young women while biting their lip.

My question was.....

You have less concern with Trump's BFF status with a convicted pedo sex offending, child raping, underage human trafficker than with Mamdani having a PICTURE with this guy?
