  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Even if (more likely "when") Momdani becomes NYC Mayor studies show the richest New Yorkers will stay

One million New Yorkers preparing to flee NYC as polls predict Zohran Mamdani win

According to a recent poll conducted by J.L. Partners for Daily Mail, nearly one million New Yorkers are already preparing to leave should Mamdani win the election.
Experts point to the growing anxiety among wealthy New Yorkers as the catalyst for a major shift in the city’s real estate market. High-end properties are being snapped up by those seeking refuge in less-taxed and less-regulated areas, most notably in suburban Connecticut and Westchester County.
New York realtor Jay Batra told Daily Mail that many of his clients, who had previously been looking at multimillion-dollar apartments in Manhattan, are now pulling the plug on their purchases.

lol, 1 million, huh? In a city of 8.5 million? k

In that world, he managed to fix NY's housing crising just by getting elected. He doesn't even need rent control!

Just like all those folks who’re heading to Canada when they don’t like the president right?

Then perhaps you should read a book on something like history or systems of government. Heck, even a dictionary would enlighten you.
First you use an emoji to mock - then you try to be insulting - neither are winning debate tactics.

I dunno - moving an hour away from the city to a country that doesn't have any property tax doesn't seem that far fetched. It's a train ride in. I think that would be worth the money saved along with getting a much larger home for less money.

Mind you - it's from Realtor not a political source.

Cost of living in Manhattan is 50% more than Yonkers (Westchester County). It's an hour away by train.

No, it was my being correct that was the winning debate tactic.

But you’re right. I’m sorry. I’ll do better next time by reverting to ridiculous hyperbole like equating price controls with totalitarianism.

They’re already paying that much more and the proposed 2% tax is the breaking point? Eh, sure.

No - I leave that to you. thanks for your opinion
I wasn't expecting you to exclude any one from MAGA world for their criminality. There would be no one left.
Sorry, the grammar patrol often takes on the duties of spell checkers also - at least that has been my experience.

whatever - just trying to help
It was one missing letter. No need to mention it at all.
The man isn't in office yet - that is what we are discussing - what the Socialist wants to do. And we are NOT addressing federal housing law - but City regulations.
Which is why I mention Fred as he was a NYC subsidized housing millionaire. Kushner seems to have mostly made money on similar projects in NJ and MD.
Nope - See I use AI for getting a lot of information and you have repeatedly stated how you do not follow bots - etc. Please don't ask me to do something you have consistently complained about my doing.

Also your rude biased moniker towards the man - without you even knowing who he is - prevents civil discourse - certainly we are both intelligent and mature enough to share our thoughts without what appears to be sophomoric name calling.
I am vaguely familiar with particular rich jerk (sorry for the redundancy) from his previous apparence in CF threads as a "business expert". Nothing presented about him impressed me, just some rich guy who likes Trump and makes flamboyant doom claims about Democratic policies. He seems like the kind of guy to ignore.
