  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“The supreme rule in the Church is love: no one is called to command, everyone is called to serve; no one should impose their own ideas, we all must listen to one another; no one is excluded, we are all called to participate; no one possesses the entire truth, we must all humbly seek it, and seek it together.” These were the words of Pope Leo XIV during his homily for the Jubilee of Synodal Teams and participation bodies. The Pontiff also urged attention to divisions within the Church, within the Christian community, which transform it into a “judging and excluding” place. Leo XIV reminded that “in the Church, where relationships do not follow the logic of power but that of love. The former – to recall a constant warning from Pope Francis – are ‘worldly’ logics, while in the Christian community the primacy is on spiritual life, which makes us discover that we are all children of God, brothers and sisters among one another, called to serve each other.” Within the Church, one must “lay aside clericalism and vanity,” the Pope further emphasized. “Synodal teams and participation bodies are an image of this Church that lives in communion. And today, I would like to urge you: in listening to the Spirit, in dialogue, in fraternity, and in parrhesia, help us understand that in the Church, before any difference in gender or role, we are called to walk together in search of God, laying aside clericalism and vanity, to clothe ourselves with the feelings of Christ; help us to widen the ecclesial space so that it becomes collegial and welcoming,” he stated.

Pope Leo XIV is merely emphasizing that the Catholic Church has the fullness of "revealed," truth,
but not the entirety of truth, so even if we follow the Church's teachings 100%, there is so much
more to truth than what was revealed.

This sounds modernist.

"Modernist" is relative.

This is the great Sufi Philosopher Ibn Al Arabi from about 800 years ago

Do not praise your own faith exclusively so that you disbelieve all the rest. If you do this you will miss much good. Nay, you will miss the whole truth of the matter. God, the Omniscient and the Omnipresent, cannot be confined to any one creed, for He says in the Quran, wheresoever ye turn, there is the face of Allah. Everybody praises what he knows. His God is his own creature, and in praising it, he praises himself. Which he would not do if he were just, for his dislike is based on ignorance.
So it sounds like Southside Bobby is just quoting what seems to be rather established Abrahamic monotheistic thought on the matter.

Sounds good to me!

I think people get fullness of Faith and all it has to offer with fullness of truth. Even Paul in Scripture says we see through a mirror darkly. But the revealed Truth is enough to guide us imo. That’s why people that reinterpret and twist what we were originally taught are so scary. But we were warned of that as well.

I hope so. I do hope so very much.
You are not bending and twisting reasoning to explain his words, are you?
But he sounds like he is emphasizing nobody has the full revealed truth more than the Church has the full Truth.

The Church only has the fullness of revealed truth. There is much more to be learn as God see fit to reveal to us.
