Here is a piece of a transcript from Militant Evangelism by Ray Comfort. I’ve adjusted it slightly for clarity:
"There are some who would say, “God requires us to worship Him. That is the supreme objective of the Church. The Father seeks us to worship Him.” And so, each Sunday, they go to church and praise Him.
But, if we are going to lift up our hands in worship to God, let's be prepared to lift up our hand in evangelism for God. Because worship without service is nothing but hypocrisy. It is drawing near to Him with our lips, but our hearts are far from Him. If we love God, then we will do His will.
Imagine this. There is a crew who says that they love the captain of the ship. They say, “We love the captain of this ship. We give him great honour, and he is the only captain we would ever have. We love him. We love him. We love him.” Then, when they are out in the ocean the captain says, “A boat has sunk, people are drowning, let down the lifeboats, it’s time to get to work!” And the crew says, “Oh, did you hear his voice? What a wonderful voice. Praise the Captain, praise the captain, praise the captain.” Do these people truly love their captain? NO!! If they love him, they will do what he says. There are multitudes who are praising the Captain every Sunday but what they are doing is appeasing a guilty conscience because of a lack of zeal for the lost by giving God an hour of worship each Sunday.
If we love God, we will worship and serve Him."
Sadly, many churchgoers fit this description. They work all week, spend weekends with sports, family, and friends, then attend worship on Sunday — praising God with their lips while ignoring His command to go and preach the Gospel to as many people as possible. Loving Him means keeping His commands.
Many claim they are evangelizing by simply befriending unbelievers. But this “excuse” is widespread, and as a result, countless souls never hear the truth. Jesus did not say, “Go make friends with the world so they will come to church.” He said, go and preach the Gospel to as many as possible.
So yes, make friends, but also share the Gospel. Share it widely. Do not limit it to your circle. To confine the Gospel to your friends is to fail to value the souls God has given life to. You are leaving them to perish.
Worship God in word and deed. Tell people of Him.
If you want to find the actual video, look up "Militant Evangelism — Three Keys to An Army's Success" This is well worth listening to.
