  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“After considering the record at this preliminary stage, we conclude that it is likely that the President lawfully exercised his statutory authority under 10 U.S.C. § 12406(3), which authorizes the federalization of the National Guard when ‘the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States,’” the majority said.

The citizens of Portland need the intervention of the federal government. The law needs to be upheld.

If the president disregards the laws of the country to do whatever he wants, what's the problem when everyone else does too?
Not a fan of Trump but your argument here does not make sense in light of the court allowing Trump to deploy the NG to Oregon. If the court would have decided against Trump and he deployed the NG anyway then I could see how your argument has merit. Trump’s move is legal.

You are correct.

The previous events lead up to people thinking they can do whatever they want.

They're wrong of course, but it's like that verse that tells children to obey their parents, and to parents to not provoke their kids.

Anyway, thanks for your response.
