  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Study suggests transgender contagion fizzling out

The transgender social contagion among the young may be fizzling out and there are numbers to back it up.

A report released recently concluded that the number of young Americans identifying as trans or nonbinary has dipped in the last few years. This represents a major reversal, given that transgenderism had been an exploding social phenomenon among young Americans since 2020.

The report by social science professor Eric Kaufmann, titled “The Decline of Trans and Queer Identity among Young Americans,” shows that across three separate surveys, the number of young Americans who identify as nonbinary or transgender has dropped since its peak in 2023.

The study found that since 2023, the “transgender share” of university students in America has halved and went from 7% to 4% of the population. It also found that students who identified as “not heterosexual” dropped by “10 points” in that period.

The numbers were produced by surveys conducted by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, the Higher Education Research Institute, and the Andover Phillips Academy.

Most people who identify as trans or nonbinary are teenagers or young adults. A 2022 study by the University of California, Los Angeles, Williams Institute found that almost one-fifth of those who identified as trans were between 13 and 17 years old. It couldn’t be clearer that young people were far more susceptible to this obvious social contagion than anyone else.

Good... Sheesh... I've read some stories from detransitioners saying things like "I came out as trans when I was 11..." and I'm always horrified. Like... what?! You were in *fifth grade*, weren't even physically grown yet, and yet decided that you were definitely in the wrong body? And, worse, some of the adults around you were like "Yeah, cool, ok. Let's get you some puberty blockers!"

I will be unspeakably happy to see the modern, medicalized transgender movement collapse into oblivion. The number of same-sex attracted, autistic, and traumatized people this movement has damaged might be impossible to count.

Well said. I don't care what adults do with their bodies (as long as they don't harm someone). Just leave minors out of this.

Kids absolutely need to be kept out of this... never should have been allowed. Granted, I've known of some people who transitioned as adults and later wished that they hadn't, but yeah....

My secular take is that one should really just stop at cross-dressing and just admit you're a masculine female or feminine male. "Transition" is kind of a myth, anyway... Don't surgically mess with your pelvic area, kids. The complication rate is likely above 50%, and you'll never quite get the real thing, anyway.

I'm also looking forward to new ways of handling gender dysphoria develop. It's funny (read: sad) that many lgbtq folks are against "conversion therapy", but don't see the irony of transing ssa people. :(

But this is why some of those groups fight taking books out of the elementary school libraries that teach those things (about identifying whether one is gay or trans) or these groups push that identifying as gay or trans be taught to elementary school kids. While these kids are trying to grow up, these groups want to muddy their minds with stuff like this. It is poisonous. But these groups want it taught at a very young age because they want to mold our children's mind so they would look fondly upon these disorderly sexual practices and carry their torch into newer generations. They need more and more people identifying with these sexual practices so they can get more legislature passed in their favor, blurring the lines of normality more and more.
