  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think the acknowledgement of that reality is likely why the negotiations included governing bodies from other Arab states filling some leadership roles in the short term.

From what I've read about it thus far, it sounds like the idea that's been pitched involves Egypt and Jordan taking quasi-administrative roles during the transitional/reconstruction phase.

It think that's the right move for both practical and PR reasons.

From a practical perspective: Palestinians are going to be more receptive to Egypt and Jordan filling that role than they would be a perceived "colonialist power". From a PR perspective, if there are any conflicts that involve some necessary use of force for certain incidents, Egypt and Jordan "wielding the sword" (instead of Western powers or Israel) will deflate and diffuse a lot of the typical domestic talking points.

Here's what needs to happen:

Cash rewards for Hamas members captured dead or alive, like we used to do here in the American Southwest. If they're too afraid to catch them, offer a smaller, discreet reward for anonymous snitches.

Trump effectively undermined consideration for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize based on

1) His "America First" policy that ignores past alliances and insults the leaders of friendly nations (ie Governor Trudeau)

2) Cancellation of USAID! with its long legacy of providing food and shelter to much of the world's refugees

4) Arbitrarily imposing tariffs that could trigger a worldwide recession - yet another example of Trump viewing the rest of the world with contempt!

5) Then there is the Trump Administration's resorting to extreme measures that one would associate with authoritarian regimes --masked ICE agents engaging in arrests with no means of identification, conducting sweeps for illegals in the middle of the night and transporting prisoners without "due process" to prisons in El Salvador!

6) Its doubtful that those on the Nobel Prize selection committee appreciate candidates who are actively lobbying for themselves or nominated by leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu - who is currently the subject of an arrest warrant for war crimes issued by the International Criminal Court!

Personally, I think President Trump deserves the Nobel Prize or at least some sort of recognition. After all, he's the one who has done the most to bring peace to Israel and Gaza!

Why should Trump be considered for the Nobel peace prize? He's been sabre-rattling over Greenland with Denmark and over the Panama canal with Panama. He's also been creating a trade war with China and joked about annexing Canada. These are not the actions of someone that:

"... and one part to the person who has done the most or best to advance fellowship among nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and the establishment and promotion of peace congresses."
