  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And people are perplexed as why things like DEI exist.
These may be the future of the Republican party, but surely a apple from the tree.

Yup. Things like this do not put the GOP in a good light.

But MAGA likes it.

The people involved have not denied it, and at least two have apologized:

Dwyer and Kaykaty declined to comment. Maligno and Hendrix did not return requests for comment.

But some involved in the chat did respond publicly.

Giunta claimed the release of the chat is part of “a highly-coordinated year-long character assassination led by Gavin Wax and the New York City Young Republican Club” — an allusion to a once obscured internecine war that has now spilled into the open.

“These logs were sourced by way of extortion and provided to POLITICO by the very same people conspiring against me,” he said. “What’s most disheartening is that, despite my unwavering support of President Trump since 2016, rouge [sic] members of his administration — including Gavin Wax — have participated in this conspiracy to ruin me publicly simply because I challenged them privately.”

Wax, a staffer in Trump’s State Department, formerly led the New York Young Republican Club — a separate, city-based group that is at odds with the state organization, the New York State Young Republicans. He declined to comment.

Despite his allusions to infighting, Giunta still apologized.

“I am so sorry to those offended by the insensitive and inexcusable language found within the more than 28,000 messages of a private group chat that I created during my campaign to lead the Young Republicans,” he said. “While I take complete responsibility, I have had no way of verifying their accuracy and am deeply concerned that the message logs in question may have been deceptively doctored.”

Walker, who now leads the New York State Young Republicans, touched on a similar theme, saying that he believes portions of the chat “may have been altered, taken out of context, or otherwise manipulated” and that the “private exchanges were obtained and released in a way clearly intended to inflict harm.”

He also apologized.

“There is no excuse for the language and tone in messages attributed to me. The language is wrong and hurtful, and I sincerely apologize,” Walker said. “This has been a painful lesson about judgment and trust, and I am committed to moving forward with greater care, respect, and accountability in everything I say and do.”

Yada yada free speech, right? Right? I mean, leftists can celebrate a man's murder, talk about wanting kids dead because their parents are conservative, and the left back their own. But oh, but NOW it's terrible and we should do something about this kind of thing. No one cares about jokes anymore, unless it's a Republican making them. Utter hypocrisy.

The fact you’re reading the thread reveals their position within the hierarchy. That’s an example of a low level racist but you’d never see the same from a true supremacist. They’re not subjected to leaks. But you can hear their mouthpieces at venues like WEF to get an idea of their thoughts.

Yep. It seems they were joking. More likely mocking the histrionics of the left.
And these are from years long posts. Tasteless, yes, But before alot of violence made things more serious. But we will see if there is anything to it. A couple of these no longer work there. That is just a few tid bits I could gather.

Hello @Say it aint so, before condemning anyone of anything,

1) the facts need to be established (for instance, is any of this, some of it, or all of it actually true, and if it is, even in part, who, of the reported 12 participants* in these 2900 pages of text messages**, said what) and
2) the truth needs to be established (by reading/understanding the quotes in context, so that what was truly meant by each of the offensive-sounding texts can be discerned .. as other CF members above have already mentioned).

These were my immediate thoughts when I heard the news about Jay Jones' recent texts (quite frankly, I still can't believe that he said what he did, but especially, that he meant what he said, however, since he has apologized and asked to be forgiven for making them, the fact that he both made them and meant them is old news now).

We'll have to wait and see, of course, but I hope that the facts and the truth bear out a very different story (from Jay Jones') with this new batch of text messages from this group of 12.

--David
p.s. - the following is an excerpt from the Politico article (thanks for posting the link to the article for us, @Paulos23)

The 2,900 pages of chats**, shared among a dozen* millennial and Gen Z Republicans between early January and mid-August, chronicle their campaign to seize control of the national Young Republican organization on a hardline pro-Donald Trump platform. Many of the chat members already work inside government or party politics, and one serves as a state senator.

I'm a leftist - and I disagreed with 95% of the political junk Charlie Kirk talked about.
But I'm also a Christian, and I was horrified by his murder - and felt sick.
I did NOT celebrate as some might have!
I have publicly called for all 'leftists' of whatever stripe (Communist, Socialist, Social-Market, Social-Liberal, Ordo-Liberal....) to recognise that Charlie Kirk's murder was horrific and unjustified.

As Bernie Sanders said, COWARDS resort to violence because they are not convinced they have enough good arguments to defeat their opponents through speech.

Also, Bernie listed ALL the big political assassinations of the last few decades and condemned them all - whatever side of politics the victim came from.

Trump has said he didn't know about that Democrat and her husband that were assassinated.
MAGA only seems to condemn the assassinations of the Kirks, not the Hortmans.

As with your post. Where did YOU condemn the attitudes above?
Utter hypocrisy.

Utter hypocrisy.
A YouGov poll indicates that a portion of individuals with progressive viewpoints publicly expressed condolences for Kirk, while privately exhibiting a different stance. Without passing judgment, how can one verify that they did not privately celebrate or then present a different posture in online discussions to avoid repercussions? The candid answer is that such verification is not possible. My point is to highlight why conservatives may be cautious about accepting liberal statements at face value. Research has shown that, while a small subset, their actions can have a disproportionate impact on critics of their ideology.

These threads are increasingly disturbing and I genuinely wonder how some people profess to follow Christ while holding hateful ideologies or condoning them.

I apologize for the nasty things attributed to me but probably, maybe aren’t.
That’s some fine politicking, there, that is!

So dumb. I am reminded of this:

[Language alert. Bad language ahead.]
Dave Chappelle on the Jussie Smollett Incident | Netflix Is A Joke - YouTube

Dave Chappelle: {Lots of cursing directed at Jussie Smollett}. Does that sound like how white people talk? That sounds like how I talk.

We already know that the demand for racism is much greater than the supply. Just from pure dumbness, I wonder if this was a set up by Democrats? If it is all true, then fire away.

Politico and/or the source would never embellish the messages to make a better story, right?

I can't believe anybody trusts Telegram for privacy with centralized message storage on cloud servers. End-to-end encrypt is a joke as we see here. This leak could be pretty damaging to Telegram.
