  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Egypt Awards Trump Highest State Honour ‘Collar of the Nile’

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will award the Collar of the Nile, Egypt’s highest state honour, to U.S. President Donald Trump for what the Egyptian presidency described as his “significant contributions to promoting peace, resolving conflicts, and his pivotal role in ending the war in Gaza,” the presidency’s spokesperson said today.

The announcement comes as Sharm El-Sheikh prepares to host over 20 heads of state and prime ministers for the Summit for Peace, co-chaired by Al-Sisi and Trump. The Red Sea city has once again become a focal point for international diplomacy, following the Gaza ceasefire that took effect on Friday after four days of intense negotiations between Israeli and Hamas delegations.

The Collar of the Nile, sometimes referred to as the Order of the Nile, is Egypt’s most prestigious decoration, symbolizing the unity of Upper and Lower Egypt through the life-giving Nile River. Made of gold and adorned with Pharaonic motifs and precious stones, it is traditionally awarded by presidential decree to heads of state and figures whose efforts have offered exceptional service to Egypt or humanity.

Let's be clear. It's a temporary ceasefire. (More below.)

I am thankful to Trump for achieving this, and I understand the need for baby steps. I also understand that it is in ANY administration's interests to encourage peace in the middle east.

Why did it take so long? It shows that if he had wanted to - he could have done something a long time ago. Was he too busy trolling the nation to distract from the Epstein files?

WHY ON EARTH was Trump allowed to free-wheel his speech at the press conference?

( Calling the Italian PM 'a beautiful young lady' (everyone winces as he objectifies a leader of a foreign nation.) Forgetting who was a President and who was a Prime Minister. Going on about desert dust on Air Force One and then SEEING out the WINDOW some desert! Wow! That speech made me think "Nurse, nurse, he's out of bed again!" )

IT'S ONLY A CEASEFIRE until they TELL ISRAEL and Palestine to do the next 4 IMPOSSIBLE things that might give long term PEACE a chance:-

1. Remove 500,000 ILLEGAL Israeli settlers from the West Bank.

2. Restore a new Palestinian Authority to govern ALL the currently OCCUPIED territories of the West Bank and Gaza. Tear down all internal walls within the West Bank, and give ALL that land back to the Palestinians!

3. Get the Palestinian Authority to recant on any 'right of return' to lands Israel captured in previous conflicts. History happened. They must deal with it - however unfair it feels - for any long term peace. (See how impossible this is for both sides already?)

4. Create at least 2 internationally monitored DMZ transit corridors.

I'm imagining the following:-
* At least 200 meter wide, fenced off transit corridors travelling 40km east-west across Israel between Gaza and the West Bank.
* 200 meters wide as Palestinians might first start with highways, and then build rail.
* International troops in guard towers dotted across these zones as per the DMZ in Korea.
* Israel moves north south through tunnels.
* (Israel moves in tunnels because of prejudicial fears. I imagine if Palestinians were given the tunnels, some Israeli's might argue it makes an easier target for a suicide bomber to drive a truck bomb into a tunnel and blow up the transit in protest!)
* Neither side even gets to see each other.

See? It's impossible.
And extremely complex!

EG: What have I forgotten?
