  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Democrat AG candidate called for 'two bullets' in the head of his opponent along with killing his children.

Virginia attorney general candidate Jay Jones, a Democrat, is facing growing pressure to drop out of the election race after texts he once sent suggesting a former Virginia House speaker should receive "two bullets to the head” were made public.

National Review reported Jones had sent a number of texts on August 8, 2022, to Republican State Delegate Carrie Coyner about shooting then-Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert.
Jones at the time had just resigned from the State House after representing Norfolk. He was expressing how he felt about the tributes from Republicans like Gilbert about the recently deceased Joe Johnson Jr., a moderate Democrat and former state legislator.
Jones later called Coyner to explain his reasoning, a source familiar with the exchange told National Review, telling her that public policy only changes when policymakers feel pain themselves, such as that felt by parents when their children die from gun violence.

Coyner hung up, but Jones continued texting, saying he was just asking questions. Coyner chastised Jones for “hopping [sic] Jennifer Gilbert’s children would die.”

One text said, according to the publication “I mean do I think Todd and Jennifer are evil? And that they’re breeding little fascists? Yes.”

More 'joked about with a colleague privately' than 'called for', but sure it's not a good look for someone running for public office.

It is now joking to want a political opponent and his children killed?

Was it a good look before he got exposed?

If your political opponent's name is Toby Flenderson then yes, it's a perfectly fine look. It will always be good look.

I didn’t hear anything on The Office about killing children or urinating on their graves
So his original material isn't that good. What's your point?

Do you honestly believe this message intended for an audience of one was a criminal threat? If not, this is protected speech, and there's an end of it. What the voters of the state think of it is their own business.

I never said it was illegal, and it is up to the voters to make what they will of it

You don't think that rhetoric like this does not disqualify someone for attorney general of a state?

Sadly, I am not surprised at all that threats of political violence are seen as "inside jokes" for the liberal left. Truly, you are not helping the perception after Charlie Kirk's assassination.
Whoosh.

People have been fired for posting less on TicTok. Just saying. In my opinion, anyone who supports Jay Jones supports political terrroristic threats.

Whoosh? Even the people in the video said it went too far. Yet you do not? If there is a joke somewhere, I am not seeing it. I mean, would you feel the same way if a sitting president was found to make a similar inside joke in a locker room for far less egregious offenses? Like, let's say, grabbing women by the genitals? If that were to happen, I assume you would also dismiss it as just some crude locker room humor. You know? Just boys being boys...right?

I couldn’t find anything remotely similar from the Office.

But I could when I looked here: Psalm 137:9.

It's a very inappropriate joke, but disqualify him just for that?

...

Okay, sure.

Okay, sure.
As an AG? People applying to become a simple police officer would be disqualified for far less. Face it, he was one of the 24% of liberals would would rejoice after seeing conservatives murdered in cold blood. And you think he is still qualified to be the chief law enforcement officer of a state? You have got to be kidding.
