  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Stolen election claims? Idk. That’s for them to figure out.
If the public doesn't care about holding law enforcement accountable for what they do, it's a prime atmosphere for tyranny. This is why there are laws about limiting search (and wiretapping) only to those cases where a crime is suspected because there is a probable cause. Hearsay, slanders, rumors, and imagination don't qualify. This is why people are outraged when wiretapping has been done where there was no probable cause.

Jack Smith SPIED on GOP SENATORS. Kash Patel has fired the FBI agents who spied on US SENATORS.

The “evidence“ is congress (House & Senate) “fully cooperated” with investigation and now someone wants to complain about the committee doing the job that it was tasked to do?

That sounds pretty political and therefore probably not criminal.

The Senators didn't agree with or cooperate with having their phone records spied upon.

Right, but they can’t investigate why they had been included in investigations without first identifying a reason beyond the affected Senators needing to know how bad the damage is.

LOL, your whole OP has been reduced to just a blanket denial of the obvious. Good job.
Your whole argument appears to be that the FBI had every right to investigate Senators. Good job. Is that the police state that you want?

The FBI was investigating (in this case getting phone call logs) for persons interacting with those under investigation for serious crimes.

Sounds like to me that you are in favor of the police state.

Do you believe that the FBI has a right to investigate impropriety?

Do you believe that the FBI has the authority to investigate the Congress which has over sight authority over them?

Are you in favor of the FBI investigating lawmakers?
Yes, so long as they get the proper warrants and subpoenas (just as with any other investigation). No one is above the law.
Do you believe that the FBI has the authority to investigate the Congress which has over sight authority over them?
Yes, the FBI has the authority to investigate federal crimes, even if those federal crimes are committed by members of Congress.

Flipping things around, if you don't think the FBI has the authority to do so, who does? Or do you think that being in Congress makes a person immune from investigation?

If there is credible evidence that they participated in a federal crime then the FBI should investigate them no more or no less than anyone else.

Yes, Jack Smith had every right to investigate Trump and his effort to interact with GOP Senators to further delay the verification. This is nothing new. It was spelled out in Smith's indictment of Trump. HERE:

At 4: 17 p.m., he tweeted a video message in which he for the first time asked his supporters to leave the Capitol-while at the same time falsely claiming that "[w]e had an election that was stolen from us ... a landslide election," and embracing the people who had attacked the Capitol, telling them "we love you, you're very special." 130 And at 6:01 p.m., he tweeted, "These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!" At around the same time as he issued his 6:01 p.m. Tweet, Mr. Trump tried to reach two United States Senators, and he also directed Co-Conspirator 1 to call Members of Congress and attempt to enlist them to further delay the certification."

Btw, your police state comment just made the irony meter blow up, burn up and disintegrate
