  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The USA's 250th birthday to be celebrated with Octagon UFC/MMA fight, possibly on the White House South Lawn

Trump announces White House UFC fight date: his birthday

President Donald Trump on Sunday revealed for the first time that a planned UFC match at the White House won't occur around the Fourth of July.

Does that make it better or worse in your estimation?

I couldn't tell if people were upset about the fact that it was UFC, or the fact that an entertainment event was being done for the USA's 250th Birthday on a national holiday.

As far as an entertainment event being put on for a birthday celebration for a White House resident, there actually is some precedent for that.

If you include elaborate B-day celebrations for presidents that became entertainment spectacles (both in and out of the white house property), that's a noteworthy list

lol, "entertainment spectacle" is doing a bit of work there, eh? I don't think anybody would complain about entertainment. I like MMA, but there's a bit of a difference between Stevie Wonder or John Legend, and a bunch of dudes beating each other silly.

It’s still just as stupid and Idiocracy-esque but at least now it’s only honoring our dumb Idiocracy president and not the rest of the country on the Fourth.
