Whenever possible, federal agencies would notify local governments and law enforcement before conducting a raid in a particular area. Typically, local government officials would participate or at least be informed in such federal operations.

Currently, the governor, mayor, and locally elected officials all oppose these activities being conducted by the federal government. Despite this opposition, the federal government is proceeding with its operations against the wishes of local residents.

The enforcement of immigration law is under federal government jurisdiction, not local government, mayors, or governors. The federal government has the authority to enforce these laws, similar to other areas of federal enforcement. Over the past 249 years, Federal government has worked together on such matters with local government.

Now, it's become common for the federal government to intervene locally against the wishes of residents and officials, simply to stage photo-op for voters who don't live in the state.

We have the president and secdef and director of homeland security, in no uncertain terms, essentially declaring war on these cities. Threatening with military action. How are local governments supposed to respond to that?
