  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Today is September 29, the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Archangels.
We read at today’s Mass, “War broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it” (Rev 12:7-9).

St. Carlo Acutis knew that holiness means entering into a battle. He once said, “After the holy Eucharist, the holy Rosary is the most powerful weapon for fighting the devil and the shortest ladder for climbing into heaven.” He understood that the strength to resist temptation comes from Christ himself. Carlo was not naïve about evil. He saw how sin distorts lives, how addiction to technology or pleasure can enslave us and how Satan tries to separate us from God.

I was laying in my Lazy-Boy trying to nap. My ear hurt. I heard a voice say "I will help you". Then the voice told a demon to "quit!". (I won't say the name of the demon here.) My earache went away in an instant.
To me, that was spiritual combat.
