I could just be me.Charlie Kirk wasn't anymore special than anyone else and he knew that it seems.
We all have the opportunity to be a Charlie whether in person or online.
I find it atrocious that someone took a gun and shot someone for being outspoken.I didn't follow the guy, but his stuff has been in news feeds more since he was murdered.
I'm angry that a Left leaning person thought the way to handle opinions he didn't like was to murder the person.
Whether they are left or right leaning doesnt change how i feel about it.
It's not like i would say ...
"Im angry that a left leaning person ... murdered someone"
"Im happy that a right leaning person ... murdered someone"
I feel sadness and thats not to do with the politics. I feel horrible for his wife and kids.
Im a father and i wouldnt want my son to go through what i think his family must be going through.
I havent read the news about the shooter. That's very dangerous!!
The murderer thought silencing Kirk's voice would take care of that or help, but it's only hurt that expectation.
I wouldnt necessarily think that he thought anything. I wouldnt expect there to be a logical flow from one thing to another - all connected and adding up. Maybe there was. Maybe there wasnt and people will try to make it look like there was. ???!!!??? I dont know
I would. We need to keep speaking the truth, yes in love and compassion when possible, but speak it
I wouldnt get into framing an "us vs them" too much.and not let them,
I think - genuinely, it'll be war when too many people keep on with this framing.
I think the easy thing to do is fight eachother.
Its not true courage though (At least I dont respect it, its what i expect frightened animals to do).
I think our true calling is to stop seeing eachother as monsters everywhere - or as "us vs them", find peace with people where you can,
Demonstration. (I havent seen that happening much). If a person is so good and righteous and knows so much better - they should demonstrate it.
Ive been shut down by both and neither - and on this forum too !! So i understand your sentiment, i just havent experienced it as mostly left leaning.mostly the Left leaning, shut truth down!!
No. I dont see why i should change anything i do or think.Whether you were a fan of Charlie's or not, has this prompted you to be more outspoken?
I do think being outspoken is the easy path. Its tempting and comforting, but it's a weak play and will probably lose.
Maybe this is why i feel disgust when i see heavyweights going into uni places and getting into verbals with much weaker opponents and then putting it all over the internet (at least this is how videos look to me).
Even if these uni students are horribly misguided, mislead, lack control or whatever other error. (Note: Im not talking about charlie kirk here, i dont know what made him famous. Im thinking of some other events and characters)
I think the right thing to do is to return to seeing each other as family members.
Listen,
respect what people think,
understand,
genuinely think of them as your loved ones, like they are your own children.
If we are so good and know so much and are so much more righteous and switched on - then we should demonstrate it.
If our children are misguided - guide them.
if they are mislead - lead them.
I want to see our young people properly mentored and guided by someone who cares more about them than they do about themselves.
Thats what i think is the only viable option. If that doesnt happen, it'll be war.
