  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think anytime we have seen a great change for good it has been when someone like Christ sacrificed their life for a greater good or for others. These are the stories and inspirations that spur generations to change.

Satan has to seem like he is winning before he falls. Its much the same for us. The limelight and short term flashy success or luck may shine for a while. But when its gone its gone and theres nothing left that brings true life.

Its that old saying 'all that glitters is not gold'.

Offhand, I can only think of one fairly recent American who was martyred purely for his faith without politics and other appendages: Nathan Saint and his colleagues.

Other American Christians have been killed while happening to be Christian, but Nate Saint and his colleagues were explicitly killed while actually in the performance of gospel outreach and because of their gospel outreach and their refusal to abandon their gospel outreach.

There was this one guy who wanted to evangelize the people on North Sentinel Island a couple years ago.

Could be. One difference, though, is that Saint had actually been evangelizing the people for a while before they killed him. It doesn't appear that John Allen Chau even got a word in edgewise between the arrows.

But I won't quibble...Saint and Chau.

As an aside, years later Saint's son continued his father's mission and was instrumental in bringing to Christ the very man who had killed his father.

He did participate in several missions before North Sentinel Island.
