  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In other words any science rhat doeant agree with man caused Catastrophic AGW is bad and can't be considered.

1. This is probably true.
2. This is not true and hasn't been proven to be true.
3. This might be true, but we dont know yet.
4. This is probably true, like getting more air-conditioning to people would be good.
5. I'm sure they do, because if they disagree they wont get funding.

Trump's Energy Department disbands group that sowed doubt about climate change

The disbanding was first reported by CNN and now NPR has confirmed that Wright wrote a letter on September 3rd to the five hand-picked members of the group, thanking them for their service.

The decision to disband the CWG came as a hearing was held this week in a lawsuit that the Environmental Defense Fund and the Union of Concerned Scientists had filed against the Trump administration. As NPR reportedpreviously, the suit alleges that Energy Secretary Chris Wright "quietly arranged for five hand-picked skeptics of the effects of climate change" to compile the government's climate report and violated the law by creating the report in secret with authors "of only one point of view."

While the Energy Department's CWG is now disbanded, the case continues over whether its report will be included in EPA's decision on regulating climate pollution. The judge has scheduled a hearing on September 23rd for the Trump administration's motion to dismiss part of the case.

The DOE report was cited multiple times by the Environmental Protection Agency in its recent proposal to roll back what's known as the endangerment finding, which is the basis for federal rules regulating climate pollution, including from coal and gas-fired power plants, cars and trucks, and methane from the oil and gas industry.

It's kind of silly. People talk about government corruption. The Trump administration is elected to help with "waste, fraud, and abuse". And then in turn, the administration ignores 99% of scientists, hand-picks a few well known rhetorical climate skeptics in secrecy, publishes a report, then disbands the group as lawsuits are raised.

It would be like gathering a few geocentrists or flat earthers, having them write an article sowing doubt about the shape of the earth, then when people gather to put their report on trial, the group mysteriously disappears. No peer review. No open discussions. Just empty claims and they're gone.

And for what? Nobody can rationally make an argument that climate change is a good thing. Heat waves, chronic flooding, stronger hurricanes.

And so this is what we are left with.
