CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump was a prosecutor and successfully got a guilty verdict, so they investigated Trump's prosecution? I can't recall that ever happening, so don't understand how this was ever done to Trump.

The OP is about the federal government "subpoenas to New York Attorney General Letitia James inquiring about her office's civil fraud case against President Donald Trump and corruption case against the National Rifle Association." I fail to see how that has anything to do with any fraud James may have committed.
And it is alleged by the Trump administration that James did the same thing but it appears they do not have any actual evidence, at this point, so that they need a "special prosecutor." If they don't want it to look like political retribution, then they likely want to appoint someone other than Martin, who Congress rejected for a US attorney position (not to mention, per Trump's case in Florida, the standard is that he'd need Congressional approval to become a "legal" special prosecutor).

Prosecuting honest people for doing their jobs, in this case for the taxpayers of New York State. is part of Trump's vengeance. How dare the heavily burdened taxpayers of NY hold him accountable for evading half a billion dollars in taxes!

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has tapped Ed Martin, the ex-interim U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., as "special attorney" to probe New York Attorney General Letitia James and Sen. Adam Schiff over allegations of mortgage fraud, two administration officials told NBC News.
And I don't know how you can complain about Martin when James ran for office promising to get Trump

Not complaining about Martin, just pointing out that his appointment makes it look political. If she's guilty, I have no issue with her being prosecuted, just have my doubts that any conviction will ever occur. Particularly with the DoJ wanting her files from Trump's prosecution (which is questionable, since it is still in the courts), it looks like the Trump Administration is just throwing things against the wall to see if they can get anything to stick (and to keep distracting people from things like Epstein).

#2: Per the judge's ruling in the dismissal of Jack Smith's case, Martin has been unlawfully appointed as special prosecutor/attorney/counsel. He would require Senate approval (where he's already failed to pass muster).

James won her election.
The case was serious.
Trump lost and has to pay damages inflicted on the citizens of NY.
Martin lost his Jan 6th defendant cases.
He failed his nomination.
Trump rewards incompetence and failure.
So here he is.
These "investigations" aren't going anywhere.

Martin has no previous prosecutorial experience. While he was USADC, he dismissed charges against his own former client which is unethical if not outright corrupt.

Federal probe into Trump foe Letitia James hits a standstill, law enforcement officials say
The mortgage fraud investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James is at a standstill because federal agents and prosecutors don’t believe they have enough evidence to get a conviction if the case were to go to trial, two senior federal law enforcement officials told NBC News on Wednesday.
A grand jury has been hearing evidence, but so far prosecutors have declined to seek an indictment.
One of those senior officials said “there’s not nearly enough clear and convincing evidence” to show that James knowingly made false statements to a financial institution to get a better mortgage rate for her Virginia home.
They are going to have the same problem with Lisa Cook.
