  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello,

My name is Al from Westchester, NY. I was raised RC, but non practicing for many years. I did do 16 years of parochial schools, elementary through college. I have a friend that introduced me to the "Through the Word" app. I have beed listening to it for 4 weeks now and I have been reading the NIV bible. Eeven though they are both "Protestant", I consider myself a Christian first and a RC second. I find the NIV study bible a little easier to read than the Catholic NABRE version. I plan to go back to the NABRE version eventually. I'm retired now, so I do have the time. I just registered at my local parish and plan to go back to mass soon, but I also hope to go to a non denominational church with my Evangelist friend. I feel that I'm on the right path and grateful that I have decided to trully listen to God's word.
