  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump says ‘we have to beat the hell’ out of ‘radical left lunatics’ after Kirk killing

Trump, who also had some more measured comments about Kirk’s killing during the roughly 10-minute exchange with reporters, said: “We have to be brave in life, in all fairness, we have a life. I probably shouldn’t be out here talking to you in all fairness but we will be brave. And we have a great country. We have radical left lunatics out there and we just have to beat them.
I have a problem with this. Because Trump is advocating violence, instead of help or piece. To Trump, a radical left, is someone that tells the truth about, how bad Trump is. If Kirt said something that Trump didn't want to hear. Kirt would have outcasted and labeled as a terrorists radical left.

Most likely Trump meant figuratively rather than literally. Whereas when Biden said he wanted to beat up Trump, he meant literally.

He’s stirring the and is aware of what he’s saying. Trump is a great communicator and knows how to sway his audience. Watch the first season of The Apprentice. You’ll see his personality up close without the filters.

Well it is not the first time. I just hope Trump can contain himself at the setbacks that are likely coming to his agenda. From the courts to the Federal Reserve, their is a whole docket of problems on the way. I feel sorry for those that trust in Trump and not God. The power of the Christian does not some from making commands, but rather in the sharing of the sufferings of Christ.

I doubt many Christians put more trust in someone who's only going to be president for three years, than our eternal God. But I'm sure many put trust in Trump as their president. I would imagine most pray to God that He guides the president and that the president does what's within God's will.

Yes, a good post and hopefully more right that the idea that some see Trump as God. Of course, no man except Jesus completely does the will of God. I have no doubt that Trump is doing his part but I think it plays out far differently. In the end though what matters the most is reform/revival. I pray that occurs and for Trump too.

Trump is just a flawed flash in the pan human like the rest of us. I think back to say Ronald Reagan who was president 37 years ago. And how he along with most of those involved with him politically, are long gone along with that whole era. Here today, gone tomorrow.

In fairness, I believe he meant to beat "them " in the next election cycle.

....like the rest of us?

But you are right about one thing: The Republican Party of Reagan is dead. It's been replaced by something that is no conservative any stretech of the imagination.

Yes, Jesus hung on the cross for all of us, every single last one. And he didn't spend any more or less time on that cross for Donald Trump than he did for you and me.

Republicans today love playing clips of Regan's sayings because they so closely align with current Republican ideology. In fact Regan even used the slogan "Make America Great Again" :)

I'm glad we can trust TrumpFans to take the most measured, responsible interpretation of his words, like they did when he told them to "fight like hell" on Jan 6.

Trump also said: "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard".

Exactly. His fans totally didn't take the most extreme interpretation of his words and go overboard. It's only leftists who do that.

That he did. He also called on us to confess and sin no more. I'm not sure what that has to do with implying the rest of us are as flawed as Trump. Hey, we're all sinners so let's go sin!

And those Republicans are simply wrong. Reagan would not be spouting the vindictive and devisive language of Trump.

Stephen Miller...whispering his sweet nothings into Trump's ear:

Last Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after the shooting, Miller tweeted out a thesis statement. “There is an ideology that has steadily been growing in this country,” he wrote, “which hates everything that is good, righteous and beautiful and celebrates everything that is warped, twisted and depraved.” This ideology has “one unifying thread,” he added: “the insatiable thirst for destruction.”

“It is an ideology that leads, always, inevitably and willfully, to violence,” Miller went on. “The fate of millions depends on the defeat of this wicked ideology.”

When you distort what someone is saying, you're arguing in bad faith. Not to mention setting up a strawman.
And those Republicans are simply wrong. Reagan would not be spouting the vindictive and devisive language of Trump.
That doesn't follow what I said. There's no point in discussing with you if all you want to do is use my replies to vent over Trump.

No, you're putting words in my mouth. You guys have a predilection for arguing in bad faith.

I argued he was not like us.

What is the point of your statement?
