  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Directed toward men but well worth the time for all Catholics for catechesis. Very interesting about relics @48 minute mark. The guest, Charles Fraune, also has a couple of great books on the subject.

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with this comment.

No one outside the Catholic Church has the authority to cast out demons.

I'm assuming the term Catholic in this context means "Roman Catholic Church". There are Protestant exorcists - I met a couple of them in my early (Protestant) Christian walk.

I'd been having a few spiritual issues and I was advised to visit them. Nothing happened in my case, but they both told me they had on occasion had "patients" levitating around the ceiling.

I've got no doubt that there are Orthodox exorcists as well.

One major difference between Catholic and Protestant exorcists is that Catholic exorcists find Mary to be indispensable to drive out stubborn demons. Protestants use prayer and Scripture. I'd be surprised if Orthodox exorcists don't call on Mary's aid as well.

I've got a books by a Catholic exorcist, so I've got some idea of what they do. They also stated some surprising facts - the devil can't see the future and he can't read our minds for example, although he can put two and two together pretty well.

One thing I don't understand - if Satan and the demons are confined to Hell, how they get the freedom to tempt humans and how can they have sufficient will power to keep their act together despite the torment in which they live?
